No question about it. He is having arguably the greatest season ever.

Might be GOAT season, but too early for GOAT career. Will probably vault him into the top 12 IMO for me (have him around top 20 right now).

It would be the best season ever
If he can maintain it for a few more years and get a few more rings, I'd put him right up there

Not even close.
:oldlol:
Maybe he would have an argument for top 2-5 with Russell, Jordan, Bird and Magic but that's about it.

No, he's not.
You have to put in a masterful career to be arguably the GOAT. Not just two seasons.

Nah...Kareem would still be GOAT, but he'd be 2nd.

Nah :lol
Top 10 maybe, but even that's still tough because he's had 2-3 seasons of all-time level play...top 5 is still awhile away :applause:

Stephen Curry might be responsible for the death of traditional point guards. That's going to be his legacy

Curry's definitely winning MVP again, it's not close. I say if there's no injuries and the Warriors beat OKC both times in the upcoming days, then they will beat the 73 game record as well. They have 17 home games left, where they're currently undefeated in.

What if he goes and gets gold at the Olympics this summer? Damn

Then his resume's about as good as the rest of the Top 10, but he still needs a few more years of the level he's playing at right now IMO :confusedshrug:

Eh...the soft rule changes are responsible for that. That's why we have all these smaller scoring guards now...because it's practically impossible to stop anyone on the perimeter now that you can't play physical defense and small guards are the quickest guys on the court. You wouldn't see guys like Isaiah Thomas as stars in the 90s to mid 2000s...nobody wanted little guards like that, that could get bullied. Curry is an all time great player no doubt, but it's the rule changes that are responsible for the loss of traditional point guards and why we have so many scoring ones now.

The league was already heading in that direction and Curry is a product of that, but like Jordan and Iverson, Curry is having that aura of kids growing up wanting to be him. He's the new face and it seems obvious that he's the one to emulate. It's all about doing what he does now. No one cares about the Chris Paul type of guard where setting up plays is the focal point of your game. I think a ton of bootleg Curry types are going to saturate the youth if it already hasn't

If Curry doesn't win finals MVP everything he's doing now will be irrelevant. Sad but true.
MVP is a given... championship is almost a given..... bulls record is a probability...
but if he's 0/22 in fmvp votes... the **** does any of that matter?

Eh...I don't think that's really fair to say about Chris Paul. He's just an all time great player period...the season before he hurt his knee he was averaging 23ppg and 11apg while being one of the best defensive guards in the league...saying "No one cares about the Chris Paul type of guard where setting up plays is the focal point of your game" is just ridiculous to say...the only PG before Paul to be as good or better than was before he hurt his knee was Magic Johnson.

I wasn't disparaging or belittling him. I'm not with the CP3 hate. I just consider him a traditional PG because of his atg a/t ratio while leading the league in assists. He's about as good as a floor general to have ever played. He does real PG things. Curry is completely different and I think point guards will value their ability to shoot 3s more than the ability to run a competent offense in the same way the end of MJ's dominance produced guards and wings hellbent on looking good and "taking over" instead of playing within the confines of a system

I can't say I'm looking forward to a league where guards, even more so then now, just come down and launch up 3pt shots...

In 1994 Hakeem won MVP, DPOY, and FMVP. Jordan had multiple championship seasons winning MVP, FMVP, and being 1st team all-defense. I have a hard time ranking Curry's season above those of great 2-way players.
In terms of all-time ranking, a resume with 2 titles, 2 MVP's, and 1 FMVP would have to put him in the top 15.

And MJ did the same thing in 1996. And won 5 more rings, 5 more fmvp and 4 more mvps.
I get it, dude is special. I am sensing that MJesque swagger and confidence but he's got to keep this up for the next 5-6 years. Most don't consider MJ the GOAT just for the heck of it. There is merit behind it.

A new bar. We move on from MJ standard easily.

I would put him over Bran, Kobe, Hakeem, and Bird.

In 1994 Hakeem averaged 27/12/4/4/2 and was the MVP and DPOY. I believe he's the only player to ever win a title, FMVP, MVP, and DPOY in the same season. That season is about as good as it gets.
