Has there been a one man army like that since Jordan against Bird and them?

Dude had Gordan giricek as his starting PF competing against an actual championship level team.

And he was making stupid plays every game.

PS..relax Jordan stans, I'm not saying tmac is on his level

Wade against Boston in 10 was better.

at some point you need to be a obnoxious competitive prick to get to another level, borderline sociopath. Tmac is just a easy going dude, but dam dude was a beast on his prime.

"It feels good to get into the second round." McGrady said this after Game 4

He was a great player, but that's not a winning spirit. He packed it in against the 1 seed? Because he was up 3-1? That should motivate him to close it out, not take it for granted.

15+ margin per game by Pistons in last three games . Ben Wallace played with 4 steals and 5 blocks and 86 Drtg in those three games  .

he had a few good games here and there but he had ZERO consistency

He averaged 32 a game in 03.

And that was that tough defensive era people love to talk about.

He was beyond consistent.

Just didn't have that extra gear at the right moments.

He also was inefficient AF.

Isn't this the same series where the Pistons came back from down 1-3 in the series after TMac declared "feels good to be in the second round"? :lol

This is "Jordan/Bird esque" to you?

Kid, go watch some more Hardwood Classics before you post some more nonsense like that and embarrass yourself again. :facepalm

Did he honestly still think the first round was a Best-of-Five, as it was the year prior? There's no way he could have missed that memo, right?

Separately, specifically regarding Tracy McGrady versus the Pistons that year, for those who weren't around, here's what McGrady did in games one through three, against a Pistons front line that featured Ben Wallace—who was primed out—but also had a 36-year-old Clifford Robinson and 34-year-old Michael Curry (the latter of which was tasked with stopping McGrady initially):

Games 1-3: 39.3 points per game on 55.4 percent shooting, 47.6 percent from three

No matter how you slice it, McGrady was nuts. Curry was typically a solid defender, even at 34. Same goes for Robinson.

However, here's the history lesson: After McGrady's outburst, Pistons head coach Rick Carlisle was scrambling for new ideas and strategies, so he went deep into his bench midway through the series and inserted a rookie who'd only appeared in 42 regular season games, averaging barely 10 minutes a night.

That rookie was Tayshaun Prince.

Against Prince's disruptive length, which was likely something the Magic scouting staff had not accounted for prior to the series, here's how McGrady performed in the final four games:

Games 4-7: 26 ppg, 36.3 percent shooting, 23.1 percent from three

People remember Tayshaun for his Reggie Miller block in 2004, and rightfully so, but McGrady's struggles against a randomly-emerging-out-of-nowhere Prince changed history.

Because of his success against McGrady, Prince saw an increased role throughout the rest of the playoffs and thrived, leading the Pistons to believe they'd found their small forward of the future, which led them to passing on Carmelo Anthony in that year's draft, which led to Prince's 2004 ECF theatrics, which led to a Pistons NBA championship as a part of one of the best defensive units in league history.

Because McGrady.

Stop trying so hard. You're going to hurt yourself one day.

Yeah, for half a first-round series. Dude was absolutely terrible games 4 thru 7, as Rake articulately pointed out.

Since the second half of last years finals, Curry has been averaging videogame numbers. NOBODY has been this efficient and/or consistent while putting up superstar production.
