Mountain biking - either Iron Darts or myself I bet. That guy rides all year, he can probably ride further than I can if he's active year round. I'd be interested to know who was faster on a short trail though. I'm 75 to as high as 90 percentile on some of the short loops and trail sections in my area according to Strava.

Who did he play for
I was a walk on at a small DI and did lose a closer than it shoulda been NCAA game against two lottery picks a million years ago. I was a three year varsity starter in HS and went all conference twice, but never close to all-state. I would describe myself as a really good HS point guard. I was always comfortable on a court with anyone. I played pickup games with Allen Iverson, Steve Francis, tournaments against Lamar Odom.
I was a good basketball player. I'd be shocked though if even you gave me my peak at specific areas, I was the best player on here. I was a really good athlete in HS, 6' and 190 lbs., and could dunk occasionally, and also ran the mile and a leg in the relay in HS. But I wasn't my best as a shooter until later in college when I'd gotten a little too heavy to be fair.
But the truth is that I played with guys who went All State and played DII or DIII that I'd consider better than me who wouldn't surprise me if they posted on a board like this.

I'm sure there are some decent ballers around here but I haven't seen em. So until someone more athletic and more mentally in-tune to the game steps up, I'll take that title too.

If you're willing to put Ultimate Frisbee in the OP, then put me as the best. My HS team and I won state handily, crushed all the best teams in California, and beat the #2 ranked team in the nation in Chicago. For anyone who is interested, here are some highlights (don't judge)...

You're from Australia, right? It's definitely possible. What level did you play? I played for Surrey until 16, then i got injured and just kind of fell out of it (standard teenage apathy). Tis a bummer, because I was on the same team as Jason Roy, and he wasn't any better than me back then:

No athletes by default. I can skate as well. Played goalie for 2 years. So by default I can probably skate faster than anyone on here. But don't make me the best figure skater by default.

No way, hockey players have horrible form for speed. Hockey skates in itself are completely unsuitable for high speed. I would outrun you giving 50% effort.

In hockey, not in speed skating.
That's retarded. That's like saying a BMXer would smoke a track cyclist on the track. You have no idea of speed skating technique, just like I would be pretty bad at hockey.

Bad comparison.
The thing with speed skating is nobody f*cking does it. Only weirdo dorky people do it. The level of competition in hockey is orders of magnitude greater. Speed skating is so damn obscure. Most people with real athletic talent play real sports.
Physics wise? Hands down speed skating should be faster, but...
Reality? No way in hell is some spandex wearing goofball gonna beat a hockey player.

It's a big sport where I live. Everybody knows how to speed skate while only dorky guys play ice hockey. :confusedshrug:
Regardless, I'm certain you would get demolished by the 60 year old vets at my local speed skating rink. You just can't go that fast in hockey skates.

I was comparing myself to any novice skater who says they would be the best (pick any sport on ice) because they know how to skate.
And saying it's a different technique doesn't make him "slow". Put a speedskater in the equipment of a hockey skater and who wins?
Is a football player "slow" because he ran an 11.50 100m but can crush a 40 yard in less than 4.35?

The equipment is very different, the technique is very different. Hockey skates are built for acceleration and manoeuvrability, speed skates for speed. I never said I'm a better hockey skater than anyone, put me in hockey skates and anyone with training is skating circles around me.
But if you are making a blanket statement, "the fastest skater", no one in hockey skates here will be faster than me in my speed skates. :confusedshrug: You could argue that makes me faster in the same way someone on a bike is faster than someone who is running, but faster is faster. Speed is objective.

I don't think so man. My contention is you put a typical average amateur speed skater against a typical average hockey player i think the hockey player wins 9 out of 10 times.
Physics will give the speed skater an inherent advantage but the level of competition needed just to be able to keep up at the high school level for hockey is just so much more.
I've been around rinks my whole life. I've seen the speed skaters practice many times.

Absolutely guaranteed you have never seen speed skaters and never tried it. Where do you live where they even have a speed skating oval?
