no one is saying Curry would be ineffective, or a sub-par player, or not good in previous eras.. i see a lot of posters interpreting the old-timers' comments in this way.

all we're saying is that Curry's offense wouldn't be all-time great in 80's or 90's like it is this year.

the higher level of physicality, lack of spacing, and different style of play WOULD make a difference.

anyone saying that these things wouldn't take some shine off his offense is in denial - physicality, spacing, and style of play ARE ACTUAL THINGS - you can't ignore them and act like Curry would be exactly the same.

Also - in eras that DIDN'T have a 3-point line, half his shots would go from being the most efficient shot in history (a 45% three-pointer), to the least efficient shot in history (long two-pointer).. so in the 70's, he wouldn't even be a top 10 player.. but top 15 or 30 is still pretty good though.

Btw, i don't want to hear any crap about how Curry would just adjust his game and become a midrange and at-rim assassin - that isn't how basketball works - a player can't change his game instantaneously and become a completely different player.. Curry has relied on the 3-point shot to be great since junior high.

All true.

BUT, he has taken the 3-pt shot to a whole another level in this era. And he is unquestionably the greatest pure shooter to have ever played the game.
