Who invented lowrdiers....Mexican or Blacks?

I was watching this documentary and they can't agree on who invented 'lowriders'.

The Mexicans said they did and the Blacks said they did.

I always thought it was part of Mexican culture but is it true Blacks invented it?

Definitely thought the Mexicans did it. That's the only group I thought about when thinking lowriders.

I'm guessing a white guy did. I can almost guarantee Mexicans didn't invent them or make them popular. I'm pretty sure American Latinos, "Chicanos", made them popular.

Pretty sure it's Chicano culture. Chicanos are American born children of Mexican parents. All this lowrider, cholo, La Raza culture isn't popular in Mexico. In fact, Mexican folks deem it pretty trashy, sort of like how Italians view the stereotypical Jersey Shore Italo Americans.

To answer the OP though, I'd bet my house Chicanos started the lowrider culture. If you look in YouTube, you'll also see Afrocentrists claiming that they are the original Israelites, that Ancient Egypt was Black, the Moors, the Toltecs, I've seen them claim the Celts and Ancient Japanese were Blacks FFS.

I know alot of Black Folks helped form the low rider " culture" along the way...

But it was built and started by La Raza...on the streets of Whittier..La jolla..Pico Rivera.
