Gilbert Grape: Maybe. Tommy Lee Jones should not have won for The Fugitive, and was arguably the least deserving of the nominees that year. Ralph Fiennes (Schindler's List) or Pete Postlethwaite (In The Name of the Father) were my 2 favorites from those nominees.

Departed: He was the lead actor if anything, so no he should not have gotten best supporting actor. If you nominate him for best actor that year, no way he deserved it over Forest Whitaker for The Last King of Scotland. Also, if you put him in for best actor for The Departed, then he also competes with his Blood Diamond performance, because that was the same year, so he could only bring home 1 of those years.

Blood Diamond: Again, I think Forest deserved this.

Django Unchained: Probably. His co-star won (Waltz) and Leo did stand out to me more in that movie too. I'd probably give Leo the nod, particularly due to the hammer scene.

Shutter Island: lol, no.

---------------------------

Again, I think his strongest performance was The Aviator. Voting had to be close between him and Jamie Foxx, and I honestly liked Leo more in this film.

What was wrong with his performance in Django? I was more captivated by Dicaprio than his costar (Waltz) who actually won the award.

He wasn't even nominated for Shutter Island. I would have nominated him, but not jumped him all the way to winner.

He sucked in Blood Diamond and that movie is a dated joke if you try to watch it today.

Hoffman in The Master (2012) blows anything Leo's ever done out of the water.

In no way, shape or form did he deserve the Oscar in 2012 considering PSH's performance.

Leo didnt even do a movie in 2012 I believe.. nobody tries to claim that Oscar as his.

Plus Hoffman was nominated among supporting actors.

Was absolutely robbed of the Supporting Actor award for Django Unchained.

Easily outperformed the Christoph Waltz,... even Samuel L Jackson outperformed
Christoph Waltz.

Waltz was amazing imo

No doubt... just thought Leo's performance was better.

Not easy to drop N-bombs so casually like that.

Maybe should've been considered for a nomination in Body of Lies... but no
way in hell for the award. I thought both his performances in Body of Lies and Blood Diamond were equally good... and he did get the nom for Blood Diamond.
