When I first started posting here a couple of months ago there were a lot of people who didn't think Curry was the best player in the league; or ever going to be. Posters who doubted Stephen, do you feel stupid now?

I don't know how many doubted him. But I do think the abundance of people who wouldn't shut up about the Warriors getting lucky last post season kind of regret it. Maybe I'm wrong and the Warriors were going to have this sort of season anyhow, but I'm decently sure that fueled this historic run from them. Remember it wasn't a few butthurt Cavs fans and haters. You had Doc Rivers and actual people in the NBA saying it.

The bigger question is how dumb do Bran stand feel now? How many times were they told that he will never win another ring as the man without wade? Apparently it takes a guy like Curry for them to come to that realization.

If this isn't the best example of I TOLD YOU SO, then water must not be wet.

'15 best player was a bit contested tbh. AD, Harden, LeBron, Curry,CP3...all around the same level.

i did doubt him taking another "leap" as a player. navy said he could, and i told him he would be jordan-level if it happened, and now here we are.

i dont feel dumb about doubting this guy could reach a goat level. it wasnt dumb prediction, it was just false.

I think people not thinking Curry's ankle condition would improve isn't as embarrassing as not recognizing the near final product in 2015. By 2015 it was painfully obvious that Steph Curry was the best player in the league and also that he had another gear which was not called upon due to regular season blowouts, yet he showed during the playoffs.

I didn't really think he would improve from last year and said as much but a combination of his talent, work ethic and the current status of the L have made him undoubtedly the best in the game right now.

I am still not a fan of his game but there is no other player I would take right now to take the last shot or any shot.

I feel nothing...

I think his improvement this year is a combination of his improvement and being allowed the freedom to play as he wishes.

With Kerr at the helm all last season he didn't want Steph taking some of those shots he takes. He favored a much more controlled offense and defense. With Kerr being out most of the season Steph has been able to do what he wants on the court. A combination of this, the confidence after winning a championship and his hard work over the off season makes him that much better this season.

As far as doubting him, that's easy to do. I don't think even the most hardcore Warriors fan envisioned Steph being the player that he is today. He's not only talented but smart as well.

dude......I don't think many people saw him becoming this great even after the finals win. I didn't see him becoming this great....the warriors are a great team so I saw him maybe winning another ring or 2 but I didn't see this leap...and I don't think many did...he has clearly separated himself from everybody in the league....there is no way anyone with a straight face say LeBron,kd westbrook, harden etc is the best player in the league.

Last year their playoffs run was more of a collective effort...they got big games from barnes, klay, iggy green etc. This year I wont be surprised if curry averages 35 ppg in the playoffs and just basically wills the warriors to the finals like he was playing on a sub par team like ai was in 2001.....but like Jordan he has a GREAT cast to assist him in case times get hard......and that's the difference between the warriors and lets say the cavs??

I doubted him because of his ankles and I never predicted him to be an MVP player a few years ago. I think those were rational, so I don't feel stupid and it has been really easy to cheer for the guy.

Five years later after lil tommy posted this thread, stephen curry still has yet to have an iconic moment in the playoffs and also garner a finals mvp. However i'm not confident he'll have either within the next five years. :ohwell:

I never cared for Curry. He was the new age / popping 3's and without any consideration of the game or fundamentals.
Glass ankles I pegged him(.)

Before the start of this season I stated he could win the scoring title for the year.
Warriors had nothing going for them.
He proved me wrong.
Watch a couple of games , and he was taking it into the paint or driving for layups.
I think the league as well thought his whole game was pop and shoot.
He proved me wrong as well as the league , and he is fun to watch.

And oh my look - the warriors are going to make the playoffs.
Surprised me as all heII !!!!!!!!!!!

If Curry was comparable to Jordan or Kobe, he would have 50+ wins with this team, since MJ won 50 games with nothing in 88', and Kobe won 45 with nothing in 06'

Curry actually has a much better cast - Dray is a HOF champion and supposedly a goat leader, while Wiggins and Oubre are experienced veteran scorers, which young MJ didn't have

They're 33 - 26 with Curry, which would be a 46-win pace in a normal season and are 1-7 without him.

His playoff career highest was only at 47, three points shy of 50 and that came off as a loss in game 3 of the 2019 finals at the oracle. Warriors couldn't even close wins in their old beloved floor when klay and kd were hampered during that series. Got outscored by an average of 10 in those three games.

Well in fairness, kobe at least got finals mvp in spite of having several poor performances in the biggest stage of the game. Also he did not have a 70+ win team who blew a 3-1 rt either.

kobe was the real finals mvp in 2001... we all know this. 2002 he was basically co mvp. but the real finals in 2001 was clearly vs sanantonio and sacramento where kobe basically took a giant shit on both clubs

Idk but that doesn't change the fact that he still had bad playoff games tho. However at least he plays better defense against opposing players and that somehow gives his team impact if his shots are mostly bricking. Curry, otoh, is more shiny in the rs but come postseason and opposing role players or d league players like matthew dellavedova and fred vanvleet have outplayed him in two different finals.
