When I look at the Bulls record, I'm shocked. Out of the playoff bracket atm. The Bulls have always had the injury bug. They've been cursed with it since 2012. But I felt that Thibs got his players to play hard despite the injuries and stay competitive.

But maybe the East is just too competitive this year? The Bulls are out of the playoff bracket with this lost. It's amazing that it even came to this. Maybe Noah was too important to the team to be injured? Jimmy Butler as well. Just players getting injured at the wrong time I guess.

maybe, do i miss a competent coach? yes. gasol is our problem. even with thibs, we were inconsistent on defense and losing games because gasol was a defensive liability. Im sure lakers fans can agree. bulls desperately need joakim back.

Bulls allowed the #29 scoring offense, without their best player, 129 points and allowed 67.5% from the field.

That's the best shooting % of any team in any game in > 5 years.

Yes, I think they miss having a defensive minded coach.

Do Bulls fans miss having one of the best basketball coaches in the world? I'm sure the smart ones do.

One of the most ridiculous coach firings I've seen in my life.

Well yeah obviously. The problem isn't that bulls fans wanted him gone, it was that he was too stubborn about so many things that he ended up pissing a lot of people off (management, players, etc.) and the situation became toxic.

Our front office should have been kicked out, not Thibs

:lol

That's a bit unfair though, because Miami's offense has been much better of late. Still, Bulls defense is awful; Derrick Rose doesn't help.

This is the TRUTH! People can b!tch and moan all they want about certain things Thibs did, but we should ask ourselves; since when does any coach or any person do everything exactly the way we think it should be done?

I never blamed Thibs for the injuries. That was always about so many things beyond his control. The complaint about playing our best players "too many minutes" was the most valid criticism. The funny part though is before Jimmy Butler was injured, I believe that I read he was leading the league in minutes played! ( He certainly was playing heavy minutes.)

So what changed for the better? :confusedshrug:

EDIT: I will just openly wonder here for a moment...what if Thibs was given the Van Gundy freedom to build his own roster and then coach them as he saw fit?

His firing had to do with politics and not basketball, sadly.

Yeah, basically this. And I was one of his biggest supporters right till the end.

bulls went looking for their "steve kerr" and they got Vinnie del negro 2.0.smh

Time for the bulls to rebuild especially if they don't make the playoffs this year. Its gonna suck because their championship window was suppose to be longer but injuries and incompetence cost them a chance at greatness

I don't disagree, but where do they start? Or perhaps I should be asking: what do they keep going forward?

you definitely keep butler

this is my list and my opinion on who stays

KEEPERS:

portis
McDermott
mirotic
drose (if they don't draft a pg they feel could be the future)

Id hate to see drose leave Chicago. I really would but I wouldn't put it past Chicago to ship him out....he has been playing great as of late too...I see that confidence back in his step...and IMO when healthy is still one the most feared pgs in the league. But its obvious the bulls need to get younger and im sure hoibert will make the argument that he needs "his team" to be successful....so im sure the bulls will let him go out or at least listen to his input on what players he thinks fit his system.

I definitely agree with keeping Butler and Portis, I would like to give McDermott more time to develop. I understand the idea of keeping Rose more for sentimental purposes than practicality at this point.

If there is a chance to move Rose while he is playing well (and to get some value in return) I think it needs to be done for the good of both sides. For his sake it might be best to put him in another environment that would be less pressure and lower expectations than that of his hometown.
