Jeremy Lin's recent statement about " tired of it being ok to make fun of Asians" ( after Chris Rock Jokes on the Oscars ) got me thinking about how and why we label people


I'm not Technically "Asian" BTW...but I did grow up in the Bay area around many different people and a whole lot of Asians...Chinese , Japanese , Southeastern , Flip, Korean ...you name it...


I also spent alot of time in Taiwan , Japan , Korea and Hong Kong....


- my point is....alot of the Murrican stereotypes about " Asians" are mind boggling ( I guess you can say that about all stereotypes ) and are probably rooted in the class or subculture of Asians in a small area.

- example....a Thai lady I know came to America/small town in Ohio from Thailand without ever driving a car before....she's not a good a driver...( = Asian lady's cant drive!)

reality....Most Asian Countries/Roads are Heavily Populated....People know how to Drive their asses off....in fact I have seen Taiwanese Taxi drivers do things with a car that most people wouldn't think possible.


my 2nd point is....Most people don't what the hell their talking about when it comes to Asians.


- Considering how I Grew up and how much I travelled... I'm more " Asian " then 85% of the " Asians" in Murrica....so if you have any questions.....ask away.

IDK?...I didn't even watch the Oscars...

I just read that the C Rock skit had a bunch of Asian kids who worked in a sweat shop ...making I phones ( were smart ):confusedshrug:


- Bolded ...In America....probably true..seems that Asians are viewed as " smart and academically focused"...but I think that has a lot to do with the individual families that are living in America.

- Most of the schools I seen in Japan and Taiwan were worse then Most American schools....one thing was the same though...Kids hated school

because azn's are the most foreign and unusual to unworldly people. they see the weird names, odd foods, more traditionalized customs, etc. and they think its weird. all they ever have been exposed of with azn's are bruce lee or chinese foods or yao ming. so they call them one of those.

its mostly black people tho, they're more ignorant on average and less respectful/PC than your typical whitie :coleman:

it all tastes good....but I always find myself going back for 1.Asian food 2. soul food. 3. Australian Aboriginal..

Eh, we deal with stupid shit just like every other ethnic group in America. Idk the numbers, but Asian American population numbers aren't nearly as high as Latino/African Americans so we don't get talked about as much. Latinos and African Americans also deal with institutional problems way more like with immigration and education, we don't have to deal with that nearly as much so we can focus on bettering our lives. I'm generalizing though, so take what I say with grains of salt :lol

He's right, everyone makes fun of asians and think it's ok. It's bullshit.

In the 80s, it was considered a joke just for a character to be Asian. Just watch any John Hughes movie as an example. An Asian dude walks in the room and a gong rings, and then it's considered a joke that his name is Fong. He says his name and everyone is supposed to laugh than he leaves the room and a gong rings.

America has a long history of being racist to Asians and Asian Americans going back to the 1840s and it is absolute horse shit. Even affirmative action laws are discriminatory towards Asians.

Asian Americans have done nothing but contribute positively to their country. They deserve to be accepted the same just like every other American.

Jeremy Lin is speaking truth and I support what he says 100%.

People need to start seeing asians as PEOPLE and not as the punchline of every joke.



REAL TALK THOUGH-Korean women suck at driving. Every time some dumbass makes a mistake and almost crashed in to me, it was a Korean lady, both elderly ones and mom-aged ones. Every single time. And I have been rear ended AT A FAST FOOD DRIVE IN. TWICE. On two seperate occassions. Both times by Korean chicks.

You have to really suck at driving if you rear end a stationary car in a drive through. Do you even depth perception, bras?
