Hand checking is overrated and sloppy.

Nash was reliant on fastbreak opportunities and screens to initiate offense, I don't think it would have mattered how hard you could grab him if hes forcing you into PF picks all game.

It's true but the problem is Steph isn't exploiting it enough. He probably averages about 4 free throws a game, if that many. Harden and other players use this rule to their advantage. Though I can't think of any player off the top of my head that exploits it more than Harden except maybe DWade in years past.

I'm tired of these old timers being such haters.

The ironic thing is defenses are much more better and complex than those of 15 years ago.
Even an average team today would beat the best of 90s and 80s if they get taken directly out of that time period just for one game. If they have time to prepare than it's anybody's game obv, coz the talent didn't really change that much.
Offensive and defensive systems have advanced past hand-checking problem. There's a reason any team of today would destroy best 60s teams by 40-50 points

I don't think he's saying anything incendiary or knocking his own guy. Its a fairly honest assessment.

The game has changed. The game always changes.

What I love about that quote is that it's purely honest and unbiased. No agenda behind it, which is what forums and the internet has created.

Before forums, and the internet comment sections, most people would read the news paper, read about things going on around the world, and come to an honest opinion about how they feel. And they would only have strong opinions on something if they belong to a certain group.

Not to sound as if it was better back then because of that, because now at least the way it is now we have so much fact checking and error corrections, besides the agenda.

da bulls got some ridic calls. I don't even get upset at calls anymore it's just like oh ok. I just dunno how those dudes could sleep at night knowing they got Ws cuz of unfair refs. Not like they needed it to win a championship, but they still benefited from it a lot.

Nash and Curry's numbers might drop a small bit but people acting like they'd turn into role players is ridiculous.

So today's 76ers would beat the 67 76ers by 40-50 points?

He averages 5.5 fta a game, and he shoots eleven 3s a game. Why on earth would you expect him to get as many fts as a player like Wade, one of the best at getting to the rim in NBA history, you complete fool?

Steph is exploiting the rules plenty: you can't touch him, and he has a bunch of guys clobbering his defenders with constant moving screens.

Wtf? When did I say I expected him to get to the line as much as Wade? If you feel he's exploiting the rules so be it. I don't. No need to be an asshole about it. Geez.

Has anyone ever actually said this about Nash?

Like...he definitely greatly benefited from the rules change, but in 03...playing in one of the toughest defensive eras in NBA history...

He led the number 1 offense and put up 18/7/3 on high efficiency.

Now, what happened was that we wore down at the end of the years because of the more physical play, but great players are great players.

Of course certain rules will benefit others more than most, but that is pretty universal.

I always thought Nash was a bit over-rated, but the dude was an all nba caliber player in a monster defensive era before his peak.

WTF at anyone acting like these guys wouldn't be great regardless of the rules.

I've seen plenty of Nash slander here, mainly from people who are salty that Shaq and Kobe failed to win more than a single MVP award.

Just because he's a friendly guy who ended up rocking man purses doesn't mean he was a soft player, he withstood more punishment than the guys in today's league could ever dream of and rarely made a big deal about it unless it was blatant and unwarranted.

The rule changes happened to coincide with many other factors that contributed to his rise from all star to superstar, but these haters can only point to hand checking when referencing a guy who came up balling thru the 90s I might add, makes no sense.

Depends on if the game is played in the playoffs.
