View Full Version : The face of the nba is a lesser player with each passing

We went from MJ (GOAT)
to Kobe (lesser version of MJ, more rings than LeBron, 81 pt game)
to Lebron (2/6 that chases rings and was the best the NBA had to offer)
to Curry (worse on defense than any of the players above, completely hidden on D due to Warriors system)

With each passing of the torch, the torch becomes dimmer and dimmer. A few more years of passing and it won't even be lit. How hard is it to do better than the guy before you on both sides of the ball when you have every possible advantage at your disposal that the previous guy had?!? Who will the next face of the NBA be you ask?

A guy who shoots worse that Curry, but still at a higher clip than everyone else currently playing but plays even WORSE defense. Book it. Of all the sports, NBA basketball is the one where the face of the sport is a lesser player than the man before him. Jordan is the only one that broke the chain by dominating on both sides of the ball and his successors have mocked his efforts by not being able to hold the torch up anywhere close to as high as he once held it.

What a time for you to be alive where you are able to read fresh words by men who watched MJ play live. Those who come after you won't be as fortunate.

Every person thinks the athletes from his most impressionable age (teenage to 20s) are the best, and superior to all succeeding ones. Just like his opinions on films, music, literature, etc., from the same era. :hammerhead:

Really, is that what you think?

MJ is the GOAT -- there's no shame for the league when the current best player isn't as great as he is. Learn to appreciate talent when you see it, otherwise what's the point in even watching?

:facepalm

Ok, so tell us what it's like to be a clueless 40 year old moron who gets bullied by 15-20 year olds on a message board. Tell us so we can cringe some more you worthless bastard.

Agreed OP, but we are lucky Curry is even there, if he hadn't the next batch would be James Harden, Durant, AD. That would have been the worst top tier in the history of the game since the Mikan era. Now it is just the worst since the 70s and the 70s at least had Kareem.

There are opinions, but this is just flat out wrong.

No. He isn't. Nor is he close.

LOL at all the 15-20 year olds catching feelings. :lol Poor guys get owned and bullied all day in school and then they come on here to what they think is their safe place and yearn for the day that someone will sympathize with them not having seen MJ live. Keep crying us a river about how you didn't get to watch MJ play live you unfortunate peasants! That ship set sail long ago. Deal with it already!

That's my point. The next tier under Curry is so bad relative to MJ and the next face of the NBA will be even worse than Harden, Durant and AD! These 15-20 year olds cry and moan constantly about never having watched MJ play live and they don't even realize the next guy will be even worse than Curry! As shitty as their basketball viewing experience has been relative to past viewers, the next generation of fans is even more ****ed as this trend will continue.

If you're not 40 or close to it, then how did you watch MJ live in his prime?

The fact is, I respect MJ and everyone before and after him. You, on the other hand, are stuck in the past and spend your time crying about the 80s by arguing with people half your age on a message board, instead of actually enjoying NBA basketball. It's sad man.

I dunno man TBH I think that may be true with Kobe and Bron, but it's not true with Curry. Curry is a welcome change. It's like Obama. Like I said in another thread, the face of the league has never been like this. If he can sustain it and go into top-1o land he will be a worthy face. Everyone is wet for Curry. He's like a movie. Some of us (like me) knew he would be good in the NBA, but nobody thought he would be this amazing.

I think he's probably getting more hype for the NBA than anyone because all of those people who said "Larry Bird couldn't play in the NBA" or whatever... have seen that a true skill player CAN be the best in the NBA. I think it should be an inspiration to kids, which is probably what face of the NBA is for. Going forward, I think the NBA is in a great place, but I wouldn't have known that 3 years ago with them trying to force Bron down our throats.

Altho, to be honest, I think that was all ESPN. It's just luls that they dumped him. I feel bad for Bron tbh. He's got his issues and he's kind of a bitch, but what ESPN did to him (hyping him up then basically highlighting all of his failures) was pretty wack.

Still, Curry tho. I have been pretty bored of NBA... but Curry makes me wanna watch. I watch it and I'm like wow... wow...

And with each passing the quality of stans become worse. E.g. modern day MJ stans spend their lives living vicariously through their players where as MJ fans of the 90s were making big bucks. Different era.
