you know what I'm talking about- this series.

I'm not even making Dirk hate here. I am cheering on the Warriors bigtime but I atleast expected a fight. he's 1-11. I am honestly just asking... has a guy ever flopped this hard in the playoffs? leader of a 67 win team can't take on the 8 seed? I still think Dirks a top 6 player. but man! I can't even believe what I'm watching, I'm watching Dirk revert into rookie form overnight. he's melting before our eyes, seriously.

and yes, I realize I'm posting this in the middle of the third quarter. but screw it. I know damn well the Mavs and Dirk don't have another comeback in them. they're done. thats how little faith I have in Dirk now.

Paul Pierce had a pretty bad performance against the Nets in an elimination playoff game in 02. He had 14 points for the whole game and only one FG in the 4th. But Dirk is even putting PP's massive choke job to shame! :oldlol:

maybe a LOT of people just understimated GSW.

By a wide margin. This guy is supposed to be a strong candidate for MVP, and he can't even play well against an 8th seed in the 1st round.

This is the worst individual performance by a player that I have ever seen in any sport. You can't lay a bigger egg than this.

I didn't. I had GSW winning the series and I expected Dirk to be controlled. but I never expected him to be SHUT DOWN. he is being killed out there. 1-11? from an MVP candidate? from a guy who gets Bird comparisons all the time? no f-ing way, wouldn't have guessed that in a million years.

To be fair to Dallas, if the Warriors had SJax + Harrington all year long I think they'd be a no.5 or no.6 seed.

The Lakers shouldn't have even been in the playoffs or an 8th seed at best.

I've seen a lot of embarrassing and shocking playoff performances. You had the '94 Sonics losing to the Nuggets. You had the '01 Mariners, who won 116 games that year, lose to the Yankees. But, I have never seen a team and/or player choke like in this series.

I don't get the original question though

Is he talking about "eliminating game" performance or "series" performances?

Dallas had the worst choke of all-time. But Dirk's performance wasn't the worst "eliminating game" performance OR "series" performance

As far as eliminating game performances, John Starks's 2 for 18 in game 7 of the '94 Finals has to be the worst. He destroys Vernon Maxwell for 6 games and ****s up in the deciding game.

Perhaps, but even more likely, a LOT of people just overestimated Dallas, especially their heart and determination.

Marc Cuban's blog ought to be pretty entertaining. Maybe Dallas will do a fire sale? They need to break that team up and get some defensive players

It's the most embarrassing one I've ever seen. Dallas looked like mental midgets for all of about six minutes of the series.

Before Game 4, a Warriors coach told me the staff thought Nowitzki was scared of Jackson; he certainly looked it. Robbed of the ability to drive -- because the double team came immediately -- Nowitzki had to try to shoot over the Warriors, and he couldn't, or wouldn't, do it. Jackson made him look miserable.

Wow, this is not good. They smelled fear on Dirk.... Somewhere Bobby Jackson is smiling and noddin in agreement

I could see it in eyes the whole series...he's got some soul searching to do

The main reason they lost was because Don Nelson knew that team inside and out, and Avery Johnson made no adjustments whatsoever.

Lebron vs Boston last year was the worst.

You can forgive a bad performance but you can't forgive a surrender.

It's a TEAM game, that ranges from the very top of the organization down to the players. You win as a TEAM, ...and you lose as a TEAM. When basketball becomes a one-on-one sport, then we will know who the real best player is. Until then, the blame cannot fall on ONE player's shoulders.

LeBron had triple double in that series. Dirk got outscored by Mo Ager in the elimination game of that series.

It was definitely a horrible game, but Dirk has also had MANY amazing elimination games so I don't think it means too much in the long run.

Searched and found this

in elimination-games, Dirk Nowitzki has 13 30+ point performances. Only Wilt the Stilt, tied at 13, and Jerry West at 14, have achieved similar results!

Dirk career elimination games: 28.4ppg, 12.2rpg, 49%fg, 39%3pt.

To be clear, Dirk was flat out make-me-want-to-puke bad that day.... but I don't think a game like that can label you a choker for the rest of your career when the other 13 games you score 30.
