Wilt playing 42 mpg in the current era = 33 ppg, 18 rpg, 5 apg, 6 bpg, and on a .600 FG%...all while being DPOY.

Not confused at all. Dude played in a shit era and was a known choker. :confusedshrug:

You could prop Wilt's corpse up under the basket and DJ would never score a point against him.

At work I spoke to a guy that actually saw Wilt play. When I told him that some kids today were ignorant enough to say that Wilt wouldn't be any good in today's league, he laughed...laughed loudly. It was interesting to talk to someone that actually saw all of these players play live. He saw Wilt when he was with the 6er's in his prime.

My how things have changed DRAMATICALLY since then.
Of course, let's first take a look at some "stiffs" from the 60's, shall we?
This goofball won back-to-back MVPs in the 60's,,,

This 6-8 stumble-bum ran away with a rpg title in the 60's, and he did so while only playing 35 mpg.

Oh, and let's take a look at his athleticism while we are at it, too...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7TnbhJr8iY
And how about this guy from the 60's, who couldn't outshoot Stevie Wonder...

Oh, and here is the footage to back it up...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=993UTozPECc
And speaking of "6-8 stiffs"...how about this 6-5 3/4 guy starting all 82 games in an NBA season in the 60's...at center...

Continuing...
Since 2006 we have found out that the "6-11" Walt Bellamy was really a legitimate seven-footer, whop would be listed at between 7-1 and 7-2 today.
In 2006 Bill Russell was "6-9", but we now know that in actuality he was a shade under 6-10. Which just happens to be the same exact height as the "6-11" Demarcus Cousins (he with the 28" vertical BTW); the "6-11" Dwight Howard; the "6-11" Andre Drummond: and the "6-11" DeAndre Jordan. Oh, and the 6-9 Elvin Hayes was also the same exact height as those guys...and he fluctuated between PF and Center.
Speaking of heights... in 2006, Bill Walton was "6-11", but we now know that he was actually 2-3" taller than the "7-0" Hakeem Olajuwon. In 2006 Ralph Sampson was a full 7-4. Today we know that he barely topped 7-1. In 2006 Ben Wallce was "6-9"...today... 6-7.
And how about those "6-8" stiffs that Wilt faced in the early 60's? Well, we now know that Russell was 6-10, and Bellamy was 7-0, and both would be listed at 1-2" taller than that today. But Wilt also was battling the full 7-0 Walter Dukes, and even the full 7-3 Swede Halbrook. Oh, and again, those "6-9" and "6-10" players he was going up against would all be 1-2" taller with today's measurements. A couple of years later other actual seven-footers would come into the league. Players like Mel Counts and Henry. But even beyond that, Nate Thurmond was listed at "6-11" but would be at least 7-0+ today. And BTW, he had a higher standing reach than Chamberlain.
And of course, in 2006, while those that watched Wilt play KNEW that he was just overwhelming his peers, we didn't have the info that we have gathered since. Like the fact that in Wilt's 50 ppg, he went H2H with Russell in 10 games...and averaged 39.7 ppg against him. Or that he went H2H with Bellamy 10 times, and averaged 52.7 ppg against him. Or that he would average 38.1 ppg against Russell in their '63 H2H's, and 43.7 ppg against Bellamy in their 10 '63 H2H's. Or that Wilt would hang five games of 50+ against Russell, including a 62 point game. Or that Wilt would hang four games of 60+ on Bellamy, including a 73 point game.
Nor did we know then that Chamberlain would have 12 H2H's against Willis Reed in the '64-65 season, and average 38.6 ppg against him...including beatdowns by margins of 46-25, 41-9, 52-23, and even 58-28. Or that in the '65-66 season Chamberlain would annihilate Nate Thurmond in their eight H2H's, including margins of 38-15 and 45-13. Or that in Wilt's '67 season he would average 20 ppg on .549 shooting against Russell; 21 ppg on .633 shooting against Thurmond; and 22 ppg on .709 shooting against Bellamy.
Today we now have the stat-lines from almost all of Wilt's career games...all 1200 of them. We also have the entire stat-lines from almost every one of the Russell-Wilt H2H's (and BTW, it was completely one-sided.) In fact, we have many of Wilt's opposing players H2H stats against Chamberlain. For instance, in their career H2H's, Chamberlain outshot Thurmond from the field by a .540 to .360 margin. And against Russell it was .497 to .382.
Or that a prime Wilt, before shredding his knee, badly outplayed the 7-2 Kareem in their only H2H before Wilt's injury. Or that he held Kareem, who was a career .559 shooter, to a .464 FG% in their 28 career H2H games...including .434 in their last 10 straight games.
Or that in his last two seasons, covering 11 H2H games, Chamberlain averaged 24 ppg on a staggering .750 FG% against the 6-11 HOFer Bob Lanier (who would be listed at over 7-0 today.) And how about Chamberlain holding Lanier to a .374 FG% in Wilt's last season (covering six H2H games.)
Or that a prime Chamberlain was FAR more dominant against the SAME centers that a peak Kareem would face a few years later. Centers like Imhoff, Dierking, Fox, Reed, Bellamy, and Thurmond. Or that a peak Kareem, who played four years in the Wilt era, and never sniffed any of his records. Oh, and yet a 39 year old Kareem was just carpet-bombing centers like Hakeem and Ewing. He hung games of 40, 43, and 46 on Hakeem, and in the same week he murdered Hakeem with that 46 point game, he hung a 40 point game on Ewing, all while outshooting Patrick by a 15-22 to 3-17 margin.
It's amazing what we have all learned since 2006, isn't it...
