View Full Version : Kawhi Leonard Last 10 games

The guy keeps getting better and better. The scary part is that he is that his strong suit is his defense. The scariest part is that he is 24 and still getting better every game. This isn't the same Kawhi Leonard that won FMVP two years ago, this isn't the same Kawhi Leonard that won DPOY one year ago, this Kawhi Leonard is marginally better.

He's had 2 very good Finals performances (one which resulted in a FMVP).

System player that no one cares to really worry about. When he starts averaging 30+ in a string of 5 games least you call me up.
Not to say he hasn't been improving but his ceiling beyond that is not much higher.

what you have to realize is that the guy is NOT flashy , but very methodical in efficiency.... Kind of like the Tim Duncan of the SMALL FORWARD requirements.

Happy to see he's stepping up. He looked great in the Finals where Miami beat them. Been waiting to see that confident player return because I don't think he's looked that good since. Even in the year Spurs destroyed Miami it was more of a team effort rather than Leonard dominating. He won Finals MVP but I thought he looked better the year before.

Very efficient in his movement, clearly has emulated the things that actually made MJ great - the footwork, the deliberate movement - instead of the superficial dunking and fadeaways which Kobe, Carter and the others did.

people need to understand what we're witnessing.
in the 3rd quarter, at the start, the spurs went to him 3 times.
on the first play he got a lay-up.
on the second play he dribbled around rudy gay into a spin and laid it up off the glass.
on the third play he ran down the court and made a transition 3-point shot.
the kings never got back within less than 5 again.
he technically put the game away all by himself.

And people thought this guy wouldn't be as good as Westbrook or Pippen. He might be the GOAT when it's all said and done the way he's rapidly improving and how young he is still. He's already arguably the best player in the league RIGHT NOW. Imagine how good he will be when he enters his actual prime in a few more years. Transcendent talent.

That depends on Pop, if he retires, so will Spurs success. GOAT coach makes quite a bit of difference.

Fair point for sure. I think he's signed on for a couple more years yeah? I suspect that whoever replaces him will have been thoroughly groomed for the role rather than a ring-in, so even if it's not specifically Pop the system will still be there. Not the same, but should help cushion some of the drop.

If Duncan, Manu and Pop all retire at the same time (not to mention any other inevitable roster changes, additions, subtractions and otherwise), it will be hard to differentiate between each's impact on the continuing success (or failure) of the franchise.

It's mind blowing how much he's improved since coming into the league. The guy had zero shooting ability and zero handling. Hard to believe it's the same person. His footwork and post moves are already at an elite level as well

Kawhi doesn't need to score 30 a night in order to be dominant, he can take over a game solely with his defense. It's not very Spursesque anyway for a player to score 30 or more every other night.
