Zoe Saldana looks nothing like Nina Simone #FAIL

It's about casting good looking people, or exceptionally good looking people
Take Brad Pitt in Moneyball for example

It should have never been done. Her dark skin was integral to her story as a performer. It played s significant role in her make up as an artist and performer.
And anyone who knows anything about Nina as a person already knows this.

It doesn't even look natural, literally looks like paint on her face .

Way back in 2012 Nina Simone's own daughter disapproved of Zoe Saldana's being cast, so I'm guessing this movie was shot a long time ago and it's just now coming out so it's catching heat.
Unfortunately, Nina's complexion was a huge part of her character. A defining trait that shaped her career and more importantly her psyche.
You can't even make a biopic about her, in truth, without that being a mitigating factor.

But when MJ played Jonny Storm everything was all right and not racist even though he literally didnt looked anything at all like the comic character.
At least Zoe is kinda dark skin.
MJ wasnt white, blonde or looked like a surfer boy.

Its not important how good her audition was.
Its not important how good of an actress she is.
Its entirely about the color of her skin.
The internet, ladies and gentlemen.

That make up job is terrible. But to be fair isn't this racism from darker skinned african americans against light skinned african americans? We see "true story" movies ALL the time where the actors look nothing like the real people but no one says anything unless it's someone who isn't black enough?
Who knows maybe she nails the actual acting part.
oh the horror

Why not just look for a darker actress that's itching to land a role rather than throw makeup and a prosthetic nose onto this one? That makes no sense to me. Zoe isn't a draw on her own.

But then you can get in to like why not hire short people for lord of the rings instead of using all the camera trickery to make the actors look like hobits?
Films still want big names who draw in crowds and Zoe Saldana's coming off some recent fame. How many big name black actresses are there that Hollywood can bank on? They run polls and shit before casting to figure out who is going to make the most money back because so much money goes in to each film now so it's hard to take risks.
I think she looks stupid in that screen cap but I don't think it's as simple as hire a blacker actor

The make up and stuff can be touched up in post production if it's really that bad. Maybe she can actually sing a little bit.
The physical look with what they can do now probably isn't nearly as high on the list of things they look for in casting a role like this as it used to be.

the hobbits are relatively short actors tho, but then again, she's relatively black as well

Hobbits aren't unproportional like midgets are. They have the same proportions as humans, they are just much shorter.
Hiring little people to play hobbits would have been a failure to the story and Tolkien's world he created.
Also, Willow already was a movie with midgets playing hobbits and I could be wrong but I believe it was a box office bomb.

watch the making of though, they used a shitload of camera tricks to make them look small with other characters.

this is akin to those who got mad at jared leto for playing a tranny in dallas buyers club vs them using an actual trans actor

She also had a unique voice which I doubt Zoe has.

Thought experiment. Do you see a difference between....
A. Half black/half white actor playing a fully black person
B. Half black/half white actor playing a fully white person
