Everybody's been mesmerized by the GSW as of late and hardly anyone notices that the Spurs have a legit chance to finish with one of the greatest seasons in the NBA regulr season history :oldlol: 52-9 as of now.

Schedule:

Mar 05 Kings W
Mar 07 @Pacers L
Mar 08 @Timbervolwes W
Mar 10 Bulls W
Mar 12 Thunder W
Mar 15 Clippers W
Mar 17 Blazers W
Mar 19 Warriors W
Mar 21 @Hornets L
Mar 23 Heat W
Mar 25 Grizzlies W
Mar 26 @Thunder L
Mar 28 @Grizzlies W
Mar 30 Pelicans W
Apr 02 Raptors W
Apr 05 @Jazz
Apr 07 @Warriors
Apr 08 @Nuggets
Apr 10 Warriors
Apr 12 Thunder
Apr 13 @Mavericks

Reminder: SAS has a 29-0 record at home so far. Those 3 meetings vs GSW will be deciding.

UPDATE: 64-12 (39-0 at home), it is close but the loss in Charlotte probably ends Spurs' chances of winning 70.

Manu will come back with a new set of chrome plated balls, ready to hump the enemy to submission and they will go undefeated the rest of the way.

I think 70 might be a little optimistic

I think a safe prediction is 68 wins

But 70 is definitely possible

That would be 69-13

Hard to say really

If everything goes by the book

They'll probably lose 2 and win 1 against Golden State

And they'll lose 1 and 1 win against OKC

Those are the only ones I feel good about

And they'll probably drop 1 or 2 more somewhere along the way

Difficult to predict .... the battle to catch Golden State could make it happen.

The Kevin Martin signing might help. Still got em for 68

Don't think so. But how crazy would a 70 win 2nd seed be?

Pop will surely rest guys late in the season. Especially if GSW shows no sign of slowing down.

Would not be surprised if Kawhi/Parker/Duncan does not play a couple of these games.

This is when you know the NBA ****ed up their scheduling. :facepalm

Potentially robbing us of two great regular season games.

This ^ .. if the 1 seed is out of reach, the Pop doctrine of resting starters for the playoffs will kick in ....

Winning every game except the ones against the Warriors puts them at 70. They're not going to do that. Although I do think they maybe win at least one against Golden State in SA. So that gives to room to lose 1 game against a basic like @Thunder. Obvious this needing Pop to not be Pop.

How great would two 70+ win teams meeting in the WCF be doe?

They could but you know Popovich will **** it up

I see 3 games vs the Warriors and Thunder, each. And then there is Portland, Toronto, Dallas, Miami, LA Clippers, Utah, and Memphis (twice). Near the end of the season, they will play vs Utah who is fighting for a playoff spot, and you know Pop likes to rest guys before the playoffs.

I don't think they stand a chance to get 70. That's not to talk down anything they've accomplished, the Spurs might very well beat the Warriors in the playoffs, and this is still a very successful season, but 70 wins is just not gonna be possible.

Chasing 70 is pointless if GSW finishes ahead of them anyways.

only way they even think about it is if they are close to GSW in the standings, which is possible but not probable. They are only 3.5 games behind and they play them 3 times...

I think it would be hilarious if SAS ended up with the same record as GSW after all the hype they received this year...

Pop will prevent it with rest. No need to chase gsw as they already will have the 2 seed locked up

Imagine if they won 2 out of 3 or even all 3 vs GSW?

Would be an epic end of the year.

And without 3 starters Spurs cruise to a win against the Kings :oldlol:

Imagine the Spurs winning out, the Warriors getting into a slump and the Spurs ending up beating the Bulls' record and not the Warriors. I know highly unlikely, but would be quite funny.

Both teams going 73-9 would also be quite awesome. Jordan would commit suicide - together with 3ball.

I don't see Pop (or the team really) caring enough about that win-mark to jeopardise their playoff run. The stars will get plenty of rest and although we've seen them win in spite of that (ala tonight) it's likely they'll drop too many games. Doesn't make the feat any less impressive though.

68 wins

They go 1-2 for a season mark of 1-3 against GS

The big matches are 3 against GS and 2 against OKC

I wouldn't be surprised if they beat OKC both times

Pop will rest the starters for the Playoffs, who cares if its 68 or 70 if its 2nd seed anyway.

Greater chance for championship >>>> bigger e-peen in regular season.

let's all be honest here, Spurs ain't beating the Warriors in the WCF.

Too athletic and too fast for them

Honest question, how many times could the Spurs have reached 70 games barring injuries/Pop's resting techniques

2013-14 62 WINS
Parker- 68/82
Duncan- 74/82
Kawhi- 66/82

2012-13 58 WINS
Parker- 66/82
Duncan- 69/82
Kawhi- 58/82
Manu- 60/82

2004-05 59 WINS
Duncan- 66/82
Manu- 74/82

Just some examples

Now obviously you'd have to look deeper into if they won games without any of the above playing and such but still, crazy how consistent they've been for almost two decades

Damn them

shows you that a great coach doesn't care about records but about winning. Smart thing to keep the energy for the playoffs, no reason to risk injury and increased fatigue. Only betas care about 70+.

That being said they might get 70 or close with how deep that team is.

They will rest starters in more road games, I think they lose 1-2 games and finish with 68-69 wins. The Warriors will be 70-12 though, losing 4 out of the last 6.
