with guys like Wiggins, Towns and LaVine? Espacially with a season not ruined by injuries?

Its just weird seing the Nuggets win games led by an Mudiay shooting 34%, Gary Harris and JaKarr Sampson

While the Wolves are in prime position for yet another top5 pick

Absolutely terrible defensively and 0 3pt shooting. If I'm not mistaken they're at the bottom 3pt shooting wise and defensively. Their bench is also below average at best.

But every team in the league has weaknesses.. Still most find ways to win games

Wonder how long Towns will stay if this continues

There is no reason for Dallas, Portland and Denver to be above the Wolves in the standings

Yeah, they do, but look at the worst defensive AND 3pt shooting teams in the league. I'm pretty sure that almost all of them are lottery bound. Plus, a below average bench.

Yeah there are plenty of reasons, and they are pretty obvious too. Wolves are led by a soph and a rook, plus their hc died at the start of the season give them time.

They don't have LeBron on their team

Their two best players are 20 years old.

They play Zach Lavine huge minutes. He is gawd awful with the ball and on defense. His athleticism allows him to score against lazy defenses.

Rubio is their 3rd best player and he has glaring weaknesses.

After Rubio there is a huge drop off in talent to Muhammed and Dieng and then another huge drop to D League levels.

They don't really want to win this year.

No coach to speak off, or GM for that matter. Wolves have no chance until ownership changes.

Garnett has a losing aura.

Why are they so bad defensively? Kat is an elite defender, so is Rubio. Wiggins is supposedly pretty good.

He's bad. His man defense can be solid when he goes for it but his help defense awareness/instincts and effort is awful really often.

I think it will take like another 2-3 years. The question remains of they can keep their players. It's always sunny in So Cal and the winters are brutal over there.

Give them time. The pieces are there but they're young. The Thunder sucked too in Russell's first season. It will be an attractive job for the next coach (Mark Jackson?)

Their 5 best players has an average age of 22. Their best 2 players, arguably, just turned 20. lol. No coach and players need time to gel. Sign Thibs and next year they're fighting for the 8th seed.

The real question is why are the Kings and Pelicans so bad.

Very few teams can win with young players as their key players.

They don't space the floor, are weak on the wing defensively, and they have 1 perimeter playmaker. That's a recipe for disaster. They have one of that GOAT rookies excelling, but that's not enough for them to be good. Wiggins and Lavine, especially, have a long way to go in the next couple years to catch up to producing on-court results as well as KAT.

This.

Wiggins is a work in progress defensively; Towns is legit though.

Dont let the names fool you this is a shitty roster

Rubio, Tyus Jones, and Shabazz Muhammad are not NBA caliber basketball players

Ricky can't shoot and he can't stay in front of elite guards.

Every time they play a team with a notable PG they have a big night against him, Kemba just torched him for 30+ yesterday.

It is becoming a PG driven league and their guy happens to be one of the worst.

Flip died. Jeez dude imagine the cornerstone of your franchise passed right before the year.

It'd be cool if KG and Prince were in their primes. I'd definitely root for them to win the title.

You realize that you just listed a rookie and 2 second year players and asked why they are struggling, right?

They have to replace Rubio soon, he is a monster liability in the shooting/spacing and defense aspects, you can

Well for one Sam Mitchell is a terrible coach and nothing about that team is really great outside of Towns.

Wiggins may be averaging 20 points a game but his defense is disappointing, he doesn't make others around him better with his passing and his jumper still needs a lot of work.

I know Sam is a bad head coach, but what exactly do people expect from him out of this group ? A playoff berth or what.

These coaches are damned.

A blessing in disguise tbh. Another lottery pick would be beneficial for them going forward. Also towns is a future hof.

Coaches are always screwed :lol

But really, they have good coaching options to hire and can start fresh next season with a new system and hopefully better additions

Dallas is coached by one of the top basketball minds in the league. Their roster consists of players who understand their role and believe in a winning system.

Portland has the second best backcourt in the league, a great coach, and role players who play their role to the best of their ability.

Denver has experienced players who know how to grind out wins, don't know much about their coaching staff.

Just because the Wolves have players who may be really good five years from now doesn't mean they'll be good now. Lavine and Wiggins aren't smart defenders. They don't have consistent scorers or shooters on the perimeter. The three best players on the Wolves are KAT, Dieng, and Rubio, that alone is not enough to win 30 games with a horrible coach like Sam Mitchell and an inconsistent and low IQ supporting cast.

Not sure if you really think the Wolves should be a 40 win team or if this is just a troll thread because of that one Timberwolves fan on this site that gets on people's nerves.
