with the band from 'The Last Waltz' concert? He's clearly been drinking...he had a huge stage fright problem during the 60s and 70s and used to drink to get himself on stage...and it just makes this performance so much better. He's drunk enough not to give a shit, but not too shit faced he can't perform.

Scorsese said they had to alter the footage to remove a coke bubble from his nostril. The whole back stage was just a drug fest. The last waltz DVD is my favourite concert DVD of all time.

That was Neil Young.

I heard it was both of them. Didn't they leave shots of Neil Young in with powder on his nose? I heard they took out shots of Van Morrisons.

No.

Neil Young had a rock of cocaine stuck in his nostril and his manager demanded they couldn't use his footage in the movie if they showed that.

So they had to go the special effects guys.

Google "travelling booger matte" for the story.

I could have sworn I read morrison had some shots cut and they had to use alternates but they left in some shots of young. Any way it's a great film and it's a shame music isn't as good as it was back then.

I like the Robbie Robertson bronzed guitar story too.

I don't know that one.

Scorsese was so messed up around that time he wound up in the hospital.

He had his strat dipped in molten bronze before the show to retire it. But it added over 10 pounds to the weight so he had to swap it out mid show.

It's not just bronze paint it's encased in solid bronze

That is some coked-up thinking right there.

I know nothing about Ronnie Hawkins except he had the band backing him back when Robbie Robertson was like 14 but always loved this song on it.
