View Full Version : Lakers Already Have a Better Future than Orlando? HOW?

How is it possible that the Lakers already have a better foundation than the Orlando Magic who have been at it for a while.

Randle abused the hell out of Gordon dropping 23 and 11 rebounds on him.
D'Angelo Russell dropped 27, 3 rebs, 3 assists, 3 steals against Payton (destroyed him). And Clarkson had 24 / 5 / 3 last night against Oladpio.

Then you factor in other picks who will probably be highly valued role players like Larry Nance Jr who had 8 and 10 rebounds in 20 minutes.

Meanwhile Gordon had 5 points, 4 rebounds in 30 minutes.
and
Payton had 7 points, 3 assists. Payton was so bad and was getting torched so hard that Orlando started playing CJ Watson over him LOL

3'Angelo already a MUCH better player than Payton. Not even close actually.

Nuggets future? What future? Develop some players, never make the playoffs then restart the rebuild because the players you developed finally want to win and get traded or leave?

Youve been rebuilding since Melo left.

Rebuilding without a super duper star is so hard. Look at the Nuggs and Magic for example, plenty of nice prospects but none of their guys are gonna be legit stars. Lakers have Russell, Wolves have Towns

I've been saying for a while that Payton is shit, I used to think Orlando ****ed up picking Gordon over Smart because of Payton's shit play, but AG has been very promising since the allstar break, I can't even hate on his play.

He didn't do shit against Randle last night, but LA is hot right now so I won't hold it against him.

Let's be real, even Larry Nance Jr, a role player, is better than Gordan.

Gordon is putting up better stats than Randle. Randle is horrendously inefficient. Oladipo is better than Clarkson as well.

Russell is obviously going to be better than Payton though.

Randle abused Gordon on every play. Dropped 23 and 11 on Gordon. Gordon was ass.

Season averages:

Randle - 11.7 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 1.5 apg
Gordon - 8.5 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.6 apg

Randle averaging a double double in his rookie season. Randle > Gordon for now and the future. You only have Oladipo (lottery pick) > Clarkson (2nd round pick). All in all, Lakers are in better position already than Orlando.

Even if Orlando's talent develops into better players we all know they will trade them to Laker's eventually for pennies.

Me? I'm no Magic fan. I'm aware Randle outplayed Gordon. I just said Gordon's stats were much better, considering minutes and efficiency. He also is much better at defense AFAIK.

Oladipo, Gordon, and Payton all look like fair picks given their drafts so far. I like Clarkson and Russell, not sure about Randle though. He reminded me of Z-Bo in college but he's so out of control

I fail to see how his stats are much better when hes offensively inept and Randle is averaging a double double for the season? Some players dont deserve higher usage % because they cant do anything with it. Randle was also coming off the bench for a while.

Gordon plays 23.1 MPG to Randle's 27.7.

Per 36

Gordon: 13.3 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 2.5 APG, 1.1 SPG, 1.1 BPG, 1.4 TOV on .473/.291/.697 shooting (55.0 TS%)

Randle: 15.2 PPG, 13.1 RPG, 2.0 APG, 0.8 SPG, 0.5 BPG, 2.3 TOV on .429/.290/.694 shooting (48.0 TS%)

If you put anything into BPM stats, and I'm not sure how much I do tbh it's just a tidbit, Gordon destroys Randle there. If you put anything into PER or WS, Gordon is far better there as well.

Randle is a big averaging 11.7 PPG on 10.6 shots a game. That's not good, man. I know he's basically a rookie, so I'm not saying he can't become a great player.

Russell honestly reminds me a bit of Curry (don't get too excited because I said that lol)

And Clarkson reminds me (and a lot of people I think) of Monta Ellis.

Curry/Ellis backcourt 2.0 :lol

Gordon is putting up better stats than Randle. Randle is horrendously inefficient. Oladipo is better than Clarkson as well.

Russell is obviously going to be better than Payton though. This sums up my feelings pretty much. Russell probably has the highest ceiling of any guy on those 2 teams. Payton is on a trajectory as a backup PG. Clarkson will best be utilized as a combo guard off the bench imo. Gordon has a higher ceiling than Randle and I expect him to be a better pro going forward.

Oladipo is coming along more slowly than I anticipated but he's a good piece. As it stands, Gordon and Russell are the keys to the franchises' futures right now. That could change with how this year's draft shakes out though.
