View Full Version : OKC vs GS in a series would be closer than people believe

People put too much stock into regular season meetings. Teams go against each other weeks or even months apart with other opponents in between. Back in 2011, every Bulls fan was certain that the Bulls would beat the Heat and their reasoning was because "The Bulls beat the Heat THREE times (or maybe it was four, can't recall).

I'm not indicating that the Thunder would get past Golden State, but they have shown that they can hang with them for 4 quarters and execute effectively. Plus, playoff series are more about making adjustments with your familiar opponent.

Would be a 5 game series where the average margin of defeat is 5.7 ppg, partly skewed by the game 2 GSW win of 24. If Westbrook had more help then OKC would straight up win.

I don't get how a good game vs. another team tells you that they have the best chance at beating the Warriors.

Harden and Dwight had a great game vs. the 76ers, does that mean they are geared to upset Golden State in the first round?

I want to see an elite team beat the Warriors in the regular season. Every team brings their A game when GS is the next team to face. GS has shown to bring their B game against elite teams and they've still won.

Would be an entertaining series no doubt.

Too bad we won't get to see it. Not that Spurs-Warriors would be a bad one though, just not as entertaining.

Exactly. The Thunder aren't getting past SA.

I really wish the Thunder would get the 4th seed. I want to see both the Thunder and Spurs have a crack at GSW. Not the Clippers.

He might be basing it on the fact that the first time OKC played the Warriors the game went down to the wire in Oracle; the second time the Thunder all but beat the Warriors before handing them the game on a silver platter in the final seconds with stupid decisions; and the third time they played the game was at Golden State, OKC was on the second night of a back-to-back, and the Thunder still led after three quarters before the Warriors started to pull away midway through the fourth quarter.

I'm not saying OKC would beat the Warriors in a series, but they've shown in three games against the Warriors this season they're more than capable of beating them. They essentially beat them once before Durant effed up a good thing in the final seconds, and OKC still probably wins in OT if Durant doesn't foul out in the first 30 seconds of OT.
