The only way Russia and China can support them publically in any armed conflict that arises is if the South and/or the US invades first and that's not going to happen. The South is going to have to sit there and take a ton of shit from them and be provoked end over end and they're going to have to restrain themselves in the face of it.

Without Russian and Chinese support, North Korea would have to use nuclear weapons and at that point their regime comes to an end.

Germany had reason for confidence though. They had the best, most sophisticated standing army in the world. North Korea is a scrub nation, that would have already been destroyed by a number of nations had it not been for their big brother. Common knowledge, I know, but reasoning behind the mentality is light years apart. And I do not believe North Korea thinks it's army can take out the world, much less defend itself from any one of the world's top armys. They are just trolling for attention.

This the situation is entirely different. Peoples world view on Germany as a power these days is totally different to how they were through out most of european history prior to world war one. World war two was an extension of world war one and what really put the nail in their coffin but before that Germany was always a big power.

I think it's less about attention by other countries, but to flex muscles for inner stability.

The have to show they have a strong military and the possiblity to take out other nations and put them into fear. Those people are fed with propaganda and lies all their life. They will eventually find out that it holds no merrit, if the leadership doesn't show any militaristic strength.

I'm inclined to agree with this. Everything the DPRK does has to have propaganda value internally.
