Washington (CNN)The Obama administration is preparing to publicly attribute a 2013 cyber attack against a New York dam to Iranian hackers, according to U.S. officials familiar with the investigation.

The Justice Department has prepared an indictment against people thought to be behind the attack, according to the officials. An announcement could come in the next week.

The intrusion at the Bowman Avenue Dam, around 30 miles north of New York City in suburban Rye, New York, isn't considered sophisticated -- the hackers managed only to get access to some back office systems, not the operational systems of the dam, U.S. officials say. U.S. investigators quickly determined the attack was carried out by hackers working for the Iranian government.

Any blame you put on Iran after that nuclear agreement is just laughable.

So if they quickly determined who did it why are we blaming them 3 years later?

I assume they have been trying to privately reach an agreement under the table over the years but it backfired. Now they (Obama administration) are going public to try to take the upper-hand diplomatically. Politics is all a mind game :lol

If you want to be terrified about a DAM, read this.

Mosul Dam can fail at any time. Mosul and Baghdad would be downstream.

they probably waited 3 years because they'd look dumb as fukk making this public just after signing a controversial agreement with them. they're hoping the 3 years would be long enough for people to forget the agreement probably.

dumbass liberals are the most gullible idiots in the world :facepalm

With the recent attack in Belgium, this is getting me nervous.

Iran and North Korea both.

Bruh you are such a tool, it aint even funny. If anything, why would the U.S. engage in a direct war with Iran, when it can get it done through its regional sunni allies, all of which are grave enemies of Iran.

Because of Israel and Isis

if we have another attack in the U.S., people will fully support a war with Iran.

we just had an attack in Belgium... if we get something similar in the U.S. (or U.K & Israel) with Trump or Hillary as president... I'm sure Iran would eventually be looked at as next scapegoat... Same as Iraq & Afghanistan. A nation harboring too many terrorists, and seeking nuclear weapons.

No... are you?

I'm actually surprised we haven't had a major attack since 9/11

it's all these other countries that are getting them...

we haven't had $hit except Boston, and that hardly qualifies as an attack.

So the moment we have something on the scale of France, Spain, London, Belgium or even another OKC....

(which it seems like we are overdue)

Iran will be a considered as a potential target... especially if Trump were president.

I guess you think it's impossible for the USA to engage in war directly with Iran. I don't.

Fort Hood and San Bernadino were pretty bad dude.

Trump isn't the one who wants war with Iran. Do you even follow politics? do you ever listen to what he says?

Hillary is the one hellbent on war with Iran. She constantly brings them up in all of the debates and townhall meetings. She gets this excited flash in her eye every time she talks about the "evil Iranian government".

So what does the american citizen gain from a war with Iran? Besides casualties and wasted taxpayers dollars.

Trump or Hilary.... either way it feels like war...

Trump is hell bent on stopping ISIS....

but my point is, I think Israel has a bigger influence over our foreign policy with Iran than we all might think...

and I've been predicting that Hillary will win the presidency....

Yea... this is basically what I'm saying...

I think Trump just adds fuel to the fire.
