but i thought it was assumed that Melo and his agent designed his contract to decide when he`ll get traded. Don`t deny he wants to make it work in NY but if it doesn`t he has set up a pretty nice exit option. Feel like guys like Melo and Butler wanted to leave in FA but they ultimately didn`t want to leave money on the table

They designed the contract so that Melo gets a huge pay raise if he gets traded this year.

Melo, do you want:
1 normal salary in 2017 and no playoffs
2 go to contender + extra $9 million in salary
