Parsons played the "hot potatoe" game yesterday in the fourth. afraid of taking the shot and didnt try to be agressive in the paint to get to the basket or to draw some fouls.
really disappointed from parsons. his good run lately was massively due to the fact that the enemies defense is only focusing on dirk, so parsons could make several open threes and fast break layups.

harris, matthews, felton and d-will are not really nba worthy. dont bring much on offense and are horrible on defense. matthews has every then and know a good defensive or mediocre offensive game....but all in all he is maybe worth 4-6mio dollar a year...and not 16.

These stats don't tell the whole story.

Dirk has been a huge defensive liability for the Mavs for years now.

Dirty little secret Dirk Stanleys try to sweep under the rug.

Anyway, this fool took a paycut in order "to contend" and now Mark Cuban is laughing all the way to the bank while Dirk is stuck in mediocrity. Even if they make the playoffs its bounced from the first round at best.

I'm laughing at all those self righteous Dirk Stanleys that pounded their chests proudly atop of their pedestal of bullsh*t and praised Dirk for taking a paycut.

Now Dirk is getting a harsh reality of why you take the money like Kobe did (unless you play for the San Antonio Spurs, where they actually deliver the help)

well statswise he is one of the best defender on the mavs roster.

but its not about that. parsons, matthews, harris, pachulia should be able to play serious d, but they are horrbile, just horrible. pachulia cant protect the rim against top 10 WC starting bigs. parsons and harris are a big black hole at the defensive end (im not even starting to talk abouth barea, who wouldnt even able to play defense in the wnba). and matthews is playing way under his normal standard

His supporting cast is atrocious, and Cuban essentially traded away their best player for a bench player who is somehow making near max $$$$$$$.

Well then, I guess that proves that no star player wants to play with Dirk.

Even with him taking a paycut to bring in some big guns, no star ever went there to join him.

It's his Stanleys on this board I can't stand. :facepalm

Rick "top 3 coach" Carlisle is playing Dirk mostly at the 5 now, and Parsons at the 4.

Then you see scrubs like Drummond or Ian Mahimi go for 20/20 games.

No wonder the defense gets burned like toast if you play a lineup of

Barea
Williams
Matthews
Parsons
Dirk

in crunchtime.

Maybe he got brain cancer during the allstar break. First half of the season he was COTY candidate, now he is running super weird lineups.

Cut the guy some slack. The dude is nearly 38 years old and still playing at an all star level. Even Kareem was a terrible defender by his late 30's.

You still have to post facts or at least try to make sense. Nobody cares about the hating or bias if one can present sound arguments.

The Mavs are only a point better on defense without Dirk per 100. They are 6.8 points per 100 better with Dirk on the floor overall.

Once again the team simply can't do anything without Dirk out there. +2.6 differential with him...-4.2 differential without him.

Dirk is certainly a below average defender at this point in his career, but it's not like he's out there killing what would otherwise be a good defensive team. This team has far worse defenders than Dirk.

And, if you aren't impressed with what Dirk is doing this year at his age...playing most of the games...as the best player yet again..putting up 18/7/2 57% TS...then you are ignorant to the history of the game.

This has been a super impressive year for Dirk and way better than any realistic expectation at the jump.

The reason Mavs/Dirk fans are frustrated is that Cuban decimated this franchise to just second rate players recently. I think we can ultimately get behind his ideas post 2011, but not these last few years.

We were taking the champs to game 7 in the playoffs a couple years ago. And we blew that up to chase Parsons and Jordan....and those guys aren't good enough to begin with for it to be worth it.

As for Rick...I love Rick. He's an excellent coach. However, he deserves a ton of blame for the Crowder situation. We literally had the perfect SF to play for this team...and Rick didn't develop him or put him in the right situation to excel. It's a slap in the face and Rick should be pretty ashamed that Brad Stevens coaches circles around him already.

Think about this...we had the chance to add IT and Ariza and keep guys like Crowder and Aminu. This team, quite easily, could have been a top 4 or 5 team in the West the last two years if Cuban and Nellie didn't make so many obvious mistakes.

Again though...we are used to this. Which is part of the frustration. Since the 2003 season in which they built an actually great team...it's been error after error by the front office.

So nobody cares the reasons for your posts...just post substance that makes sense. Back up what you say.

IllegalD is just a kobe stan. Hey illgalD, we all know that statswise Kobe is way behind Dirk in every advanced stat.....but come back when kobe will lead his team in WS please. 2009 he was second and 2010 third.
but as long as kobe can hide behind pau gasols gigantic "20/13/2 blocks on over 50% and 22(2009)/ 24 PER (2010) and WS-leader"-ass, everything is ok

Nobody is arguing that Dirk is currently a top 5 player. Dirk is a good, borderline all star type player at best in his current form.

If people were arguing that Dirk was as good as prime Lebron right now...I'd be right there laughing and bringing up subpar defense and all of his flaws.

Try to be rational and logical for at least one minute.

Do you really not see the difference? Nobody is claiming current Dirk is one of the best handful of players in the league. Hell, nobody is claiming current Dirk is as good as 13 Kobe was. He's not. You have to grasp things like this if you want to ever have successful conversations on here and in life. If you can't be reasonable or logical, ever, you are doomed....and I really hope you change this moving forward because you'll want to...trust me.

Conversely, in 13, people like you were making bold claims about Kobe...and of course his horrendous defense and effort needed to be brought up.

Dirk is properly ranked as good, but flawed player currently in this league.
