Kobe fans are not that reckless I hope. At one point they tried to make an argument though. But just to clarify, besides Jordan's superior resume...

1) Jordan was faster then him. Kobe had a very quick step but his speed without the ball (and especially with it) was average at best even in his prime. He could be caught in the open court, unlike Jordan who looked like a track star when he ran and flew accross the court.

2) Hands, this is obvious. While some could argue for individual defense ( which I wouldn't agree Kobe was better or equal), Jordan's long arms and big hands led to alot of deflections and better team defense.

3) Endurance and style of play. Jordan seemed to have alot more energy over 48 mins, his style of play was more organized and mechanical. Jordan was able to seemingly win more with less help then anyone who ever played. It translated to better basketball.

I'm a Big fan of both players but if you don't have bias, ignore nostalgia and just look at raw facts Jordan was the better player and it's not really as close as some would think.

There are actually a lot, just not on basketball forums, where players from Wilt through Curry are discussed day and night. But a lot of people in their late teens and 20s who have only watched Laker games from when Kobe was in his prime, but have never watched Jordan or any past players think Kobe is the GOAT. You can see them all the time on YouTube, or the comment section of random basketball articles. Here a name like Hakeem is a daily name, where out there it's an extremely rare name.
