The father of a 9-year-old Chicago boy who was murdered execution-style this past November was accused Sunday of shooting three people last week on the city's South Side.
Pierre Stokes, 25, was charged with three counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and one count of unlawful use of weapon by a felon, the Cook County state's attorney's office announced.
Stokes was arrested Friday in the March 8 shooting, in which a 30-year-old was injured in the right arm and a 31-year-old man was shot in the left arm, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. A 29-year-old woman was grazed in the face.
The alleged shooting occurred the same day that authorities announced charges against 22-year-old Dwright Boone-Doty in the Nov. 2 killing of Stokes' son, Tyshawn Lee.
Boone-Doty is accused of luring Tyshawn and shooting him in the head, allegedly in retaliation for Stokes' ties to a gang faction Boone-Doty blamed for an earlier murder.
The Sun-Times reported that the two men allegedly shot by Stokes were known gang members, while the injured woman was a girlfrend of Corey Morgan, who has also been charged in Tyshawn's murder.
"This represents the challenge that police grapple with ... Mr. Stokes, who was involved in a gang lifestyle, ultimately suffered an unspeakable loss with the calculated execution of his son,” Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement. “Despite this, he continued to engage in the same gang activity that started this cycle of retaliatory violence."
Stokes was scheduled to appear in court Monday
