Was Wade's game more suitable for a first option role? Should of LeBron played the second option?

Lebron can't shoot or play off-ball

Lebron can't shoot or play off-ball

He did both of those things really well in Miami. So technically he can, he just doesn't.

Not surprised that you never saw the 2 play together in Miami to make your own opinion.

So LeBron should have played the 2015 finals Curry role?

It depends on how you define 1st option. From 2011-2013 the Heat were generally at their best when Wade was a primary off-ball scorer and Lebron the primary ball-handler. That's where they displayed their best chemistry. It allowed them to play to their strengths and smooth out some the redundancies in their games. They weren't quite as good imo when those roles were reversed.

One other thing to add, I think Wade is the more natural and instinctive scorer whereas Lebron has more of a PG mentality. Lebron is obviously a good scorer, but his primary instincts are that of a playmaker. Wade's primary instincts are to score. That ties in to the point I made earlier about them being at their best when Lebron was a ball handler and Wade an off-ball scorer.

I think that's a big reason they were able to make it work. Wade having a scorer's mentality and being effective off the ball was actually a great fit with Lebron's skill set. On the surface they were somewhat redundant, but their strengths and instincts meshed very well once they settled into their roles.
