View Full Version : Can you have a St. Pattys day party in today's world?
Celebrating the 5th of May by wearing a Sombrero. Celebrating Halloween wearing practically anything.
Those holidays are demeaning and stereotypical.
So are we allowed to celebrate today without being offensive?

Stop trying to be a sensitive over-politicized dripping wet p*ssy (don't care if you're trying to be rhetorical or ironic or whatever the hell it is you nerds do), get the hell off of ISH for a bit and have a shot of whiskey or two tonight. Maybe some beers.

It's a fair question.
I've seen people be accused of racism by wearing a sombrero. I've seen people accused of racism for wearing an Indian costume.
Is it not demeaning then to wear a goofy hat and shamrocks? Or get absolutely shit faced drunk because, you know, that's what the Irish do?
Just pondering the hypocrisy and thought I'd ask for opinions. You'll notice nobody has a problem with THIS holiday though.

Well the SJWs may claim it is a form of cultural appropriation but since the Irish are not persecuted anymore and are in a position of power it is not comparable to Whites wearing sombreros or Whites dressing up as Native Americans and so forth. SJW logic can be summed easily. If you are white and/or any majority group you are liable for anything you say and you better not make the slightest remark about any minority group otherwise you are "insert SJW buzzword."
SJW are losers (like my boy Drumpf would say :D) and look for any chance to prove their moral superiority on to others. The best is when these SJWs attack each other like the instances of Bernie being labeled a "sexist" or attack celebrities with SJW language even though these same celebrities push this shitty agenda (BTW yes the Oscars are racist! ;))

Well damn you coulda loosened that joint up a little bit.
Your nose is like an older women tried to put adhesive on heir back fat so it doesn't wiggle.
Kinda oxymoronic to wear a breathe right while the encroached dermis of your sniffer is stifled with plastic asphyxiation

I think the fact the Irish are portrayed as violent alcoholics is pretty demeaning.
But you know you can make Irish jokes, and they're not considered offensive in today's world, only because the vast majority wouldn't care. They'd probably laugh with you.
British jokes. French jokes. Redneck jokes. White trash jokes. Not offensive because the 'joke' of the jokes don't find it offensive.
But if you wear a sombrero on Cinco de Mayo... you will be shamed for all eternity:
Student union officials at the University of East Anglia have banned a Mexican restaurant from handing out sombreros to students, branding the marketing stunt racist.
Union officials took them away from new students, according to reports, and told restaurant workers the hats breached a policy forbidding stallholders from handing out materials including “discriminatory or stereotypical imagery”.
I guess the green hat and the shamrocks are not stereotypical. Nobody would see a man with a red beard, a funny hat, and a shamrock on his chest and immediately think 'Irish', right?
If you want to try 'banning' stereotypes, cool, I'm all for it, but until we ban all stereotypes (including the white ones), the PC crowd can go **** themselves. If you want special treatment, find it somewhere else.
