View Full Version : Best shooting guard in the league?

Who would you put at the top. Myself, i'd go with Butler, Harden is too much of a liability on defensive side, Klay lacks ballhandling and shot creation skills and Butler is great on both sides of the court and he doesn't have one clear weakness as these 2 guys i consider other 2 best shooting guards in the league.

So my top 5 would be

Butler
Harden
Thompson
DeRozan
Redick

I guess you could put Hayward there if you consider him as a shooting guard...

Your choice?

Butler sucks.

My vote goes to Klay. Great shooter and good defense. Thats what I want from my SG.

At least for this season ?

1) James Harden
2) DeMar DeRozan
3) Jimmy Butler
4) Dwayne Wade
T-5) Thompson/McCollum/Middleton

I gave it a 3 way tie for 5th because even though Klay is the most efficient out of the 3, he's got by far the best team out of the group. I think he's got a huge advantage being on that team and he gets assisted a lot of shots, where as I don't see a drop off if Middleton or McCollum (offense at least) were there.

I put DeMar 2nd since Jimmy and Wade have missed a lot of time. He's done a lot for the Raps, even though he's not the best player on the team.

Harden is clear cut #1 for me, even if his defensive effort is cringe worthy bad.

Probably right on the money, but I'll put Klay above Wade because I expect more out of Dwyane.

If you ignore the most essential qualities, doesn't that make him not like Kobe at all? This is like saying "Curry is a perimeter oriented Shaq that can make free throws."

So because Derozan plays the same position as Kobe, they are very comparable despite differing on the qualities that are most characteristic of Kobe?

Simply not true. I question at times if he's passing enough. He's become a really good draw and kicker, but he doesn't have the playmaking Kobe had in his prime. Kobe was a legit triple threat player too, could hurt from anywhere on the floor, better mid-range, better 3 point shooter, got to the line more, better post moves, etc...

the correlation I was making was that they do indeed play the same position. idk what you are smoking but you need to seek rehab. comparing shaq to curry????:facepalm :facepalm :facepalm

nobody said anything about playmaking.......he's a great and willing passer. Kobe never was and never will be a playmaker..idk why fans of certain player always try and make their favorite player something they never were. Just stop it....kobe was a great player but he was nothing of a playmaker...playmakers don't stop being playmakers......if you don't believe me....why does andre miller till have a job in the nba at the age of 60? lol

:biggums:
You just went full retard. A more efficient Kobe would be something like MJ.
And BTW even the efficient part isn't true. From 2000 until 2013 Kobe shot better than the 44.5 FG% that DeMar is shooting in all but 3 years. And on a bigger volume.

By that logic every SG is a "Kobe with..." or "Kobe without..." That is a dumb comparison. :facepalm

My example of Shaq to Curry was to point out how dumb your comparison was by showing an example of another bad comparison. I'm sorry you are too stupid to understand that. You need to seek education.

I didn't know logic was taking someones opinion and claiming it to be a fact. If you feel he isn't a more efficient kobe...that's fine. But you too stupid to understand that "LOGIC". Keep comparing shaq to curry though. That was beautiful.

Cool.....I didn't know mj was still in the league. Who does he play for now? For the LAST time I was comparing derozan to a current SG.......meaning a sg that's still playing.......

You all have your arguments, but it's probably because i can't really stand Harden but even when i try to think objectively, i can't put him in front of Butler. What has Harden done, especially this season, to be considered better than Jimmy overall, let's exclude his recent knee problems. He refuses to put some effort on defense, he doesn't care about it and he sometimes seems careless and out of rythm, he's a talented offensive player, i'll give him that, and he was really good last season, but even then, one of the biggest comebacks happened with him chilling on the sidelines.

Jimmy has more heart, passion and i don't even have to talk about defense. He may not be as naturally talented offensive player as Harden, but he works his ass off, he improved so much and from a defensive specialist he became their legit number 1 option on offense. Give me Butler over Harden every time.

I agree, Butler gets it done in both sides of the ball, genuinely cares about the game and is (right now) much more likeable. What flaws does Butler have in his game? He's kind of like a really good Jack of All Trades player, that's why he'd be my #1 in the league today.
Then Harden would probably come second; I prefer DeMar DeRozan but Harden is just so potent offensively, it'd be hard to say no.
#3 is DeMar, he's really stepped up his game this year and is a much better team player, plus he has awesome dunks.
Klay would have to be a solid fourth, if only because he's the second option on his team, we've never seen him for extended time as the #1 guy.
Fifth could go to Wade of McCollum, you could choose either and be fine; but as of now I'd probably go with McCollum, guy is playing great this year behind Damian

Harden may not play defense but his ability to score 30 points and give you rebound and assists offset it.

He's still number one. After that, you have Butler, then the others are equal ground

What do you mean so what? Defense is half the game and Harden is an absolute disaster at it. If we're ranking players, I'm not ignoring half the game of basketball. And I damn sure don't give two ****s who has more mvp votes
