Im not complaining about people discussing superstars....they are the major story of course and always will be. Im just asking for some of your favorite lesser known players worth my attention. Might watch some awful game or two to look into them. These are the guys who really come up on this pending free agency money explosion. Some of the guys mentioned in here are gonna get 60 million for 12ppg off the bench. Laugh if you want...its gonna happen. And I think I know one...

Doug Mcdermott. Hes looking more like I expected the 5th leading scorer in NCAA history to look lately.

Hes squaring up and hitting 27-28 footers off the dribble...floater going to the basket...hits his open shots and his one dribble pullup has been working. Hes always been able to get open off the ball but now hes making the shots.

In the 15 games since the all star break hes putting up 15ppg on 50% shooting 44% from 3 and 89% from the line all off the bench in 26 minutes a game. He may be worth paying attention to next chance you get to watch a Bulls game.

Hes my current role player "crush".

Who you got for me?

And I swear im handing out E-DDTs to anyone posting former all stars who have settled into being role players or superstars they want to be amusing by suggesting are role players. I want the young up and comers. Who is the world just sleeping on because we dont watch enough of your probably shitty non interesting team?

PJ Tucker is a role player on a bad team that'd do really well on a good team

I know it's one of the more obvious selections (at least imo) but Livingston gets it done. The guy is such a complimentary piece off the pine.

Dudley is pretty damn versatile

He's played whole seasons at shooting guard, small forward, and power forward. Got the outside shot... decent defender...

If you ever are watching the Jazz, watch Rudy Gobert on defense and don't ball-watch. His spacing and timing on both offense and defense is incredible. Rudy knows his limits on both sides of the ball, and so knows when to refrain from a contest (which isn't very often) or from a shot on offense. He's also a very good passer, better than you'd expect.

Oladipo who dropped 45 last night, but is averaging less than 16 ppg. He's intriguing in the fact that his floor seems to be Crawford, but his ceiling seems to max out at just occasional all-star.

jr smith is underrated these days.

hes become a very solid defensive player, who doesnt gamble too much, just fights over picks, pays attention and keeps the ball in front of him.

hes of course still a great three point shooter. he takes some tough shots, but so long as his percentage stays high, im not complaining.

and most bizarre of all, he sounds like the voice of reason coming from the cavs locker room as of late, talking about there needing to be better effort.

Boris Diaw, can do a bit of everything. Favourite part of his game is passing. For a 6-8 chubby player, he's got lots of hesitation fakes so he can drive too.

Eh, he's better on defense (Gobert), but Whiteside is way ahead offensively so I'll give you that

Jamal Crawford is a little high for a floor isnt he? 6th man of the year 2-3 times. Hes gonna score 20 thousand points before hes done. Hes had at least 3 50 point games I remember.

Hes had a really solid career for someone not really talked about at all.

I keep hearing this kid's name pop up. What's his game look like? Straight lockdown D? Can he shoot the rock at all? Beat his man off the dribble?

Crawford has easily been one of the best 6th man in the league for a while and yes, pretty dang good. But, I honestly feel like Oladipo is at least a 20000 point scorer if the longevity is there... The question I really have is will he get much better, or is he pretty much who he is now 3 years in? I just don't know.

Otto Porter is definitely going to be a good player in the future. Consistently makes the right play, and his J is coming along.

Dude just needs to fix those skinny legs

Porter is the ultimate pick-up bball teammate IMO (of the future)

Kidd was such an underrated role player for the Knicks. That Knicks team that made the ECF had such great ball-movement, getting tons of open shots. Melo filled a more Dirk-like role on the team, not just being a scorer, but using the threat of his shot and post-ups to get the defense to collapse.

I might have a rep as a knicks hater, but I enjoy good basketball no matter what city it's played in. That Knicks squad played some undeniably pretty ball.
