View Full Version : Duncan shouldn't win DPOY

He is still very effective as a player and I'm sure he will be even more effective in the playoffs just like last year, but he isn't playing enough this year to win DPOY. He is only playing 24.7 minutes a game and he has missed 17 games already this season. That's not enough playing time to win the DPOY.

Kawhi Leonard played in only 64 games last season. Rudy Gobert, who was up there in the DPOY voting, was a damn bench player the first half of the season, playing only 26 minutes per game. Hassan Whiteside, who gets DPOY talks right now, is playing 28 minutes per game, including 20 out of 60 games coming from the bench.

Duncan is missing a lot of games+ he is not playing a lot. That wasn't the case for anyone those guys. Leonard played 33 minutes a game and Duncan will probably miss more games than Leonard did. Gobert played all the games. Hassan Whiteside won't win DPOY.

The Spurs played the best defensive game of the year against the best offense yesterday without Duncan (8 minutes)

Small ball, no Bogut/Ezeli. Pop had no choice.

If Kobe can be given a cheapened lifetime achievement MVP, then in theory we can give this years DPOY to Tim.

Of course, Tim is only second in the DPOY race right now anyway, so it's pretty moot. Lebron has this thing locked up.

Stay mad haters.

He played David West instead, had nothing to do with small small.

West barely played as well and didn't do much either.

He got the minutes that Duncan played in the first half. I'm just saying not playing Duncan had nothing to do with small ball, otherwise Pop wouldn't play West instead of him in 2nd half, he would play some1 more suited more small ball.

Neither were effective and didn't play many minutes. I don't see what point you were trying to make here. Pop had the offense running through Danny Green at one point. DANNY GREEN. He was clearly experimenting last night.

I said in the 2nd half he got duncan s minutes. He got the 8 minutes duncan played in the 1st half.

He won't. If he does it is clearly a career achievement.

So you're saying West usually doesn't get any minutes at all and doesn't play unless he's taking Duncan's minutes?

:wtf:

I don't get it.

I don't get it.
You claimed Duncan got benched because Warriors were playing small ball.
I claimed that s not true.
My reasoning for saying that's not true: In the 2nd half where Duncan got benched, West took the minutes Duncan played in the 1st half ( DUncan played 8 minutes 1st half, and West got those 8 minutes in the 2nd half). If Duncan really got benched for small ball reasons, West wouldn't have played in the 2nd half instead of him, it would have been some1 for suited for small ball.
If you still don't get it after this lol

That would mean West is usually a DNP-CD, which he is not. Diaw is the only one ''taking'' minutes, as he nearly doubled his season average.

Both C's (West plays C most of the time) got a huge drop in minutes, go figure.

I was comparing 1st half to 2nd half. They ran the same rotation as the 1st half in the 2nd half except that Duncan's minutes were replaced by West's minutes. When I said Duncan got benched, i was refering to him getting benched in the 2nd half.

Green should have won last year. Kawhi this year.

Aw well, that's two for Kawhi.

After his injury earlier this season, 39year old duncan has been playing like a 38 year old duncan rather than a 30 year old duncan. He lost his dpoy run

Duncan should have come to the Hawks with Nowitzki.

Duncans defense, Nowitzkis offense and shooting ability and Dennis Schroders slashings to the basket OFF the BENCH.

imagine that.
