View Full Version : Has David West been a dissapointment for Spurs?

I think so, he doesn't fit well into the previous offensive system. Somewhat like LMA in fact, West is at his best with an isolation at the top of the key or in the pick and roll.

In some recent games it seems like Pop is running more pick and pop with both LMA and West, I think that is the best way to use these two who are almost automatic with that high key jumper.

Yeah the pick n pop is all LMA did in Portland with Lillard :applause:

he left big money on the table as he decided to join the spurs. i dont think he has been a dissapointment. he is averaging 7ppg/4rebpg on 54% from the field and 17.3 PER. Playing just 17mpg. very solid and reliable backup. every team wants david west calibre player coming off the bench.

its obvious that he wont shoot like 15 times with this minute limitation and the spurs system

No. He's a solid rotation player who gets paid little money.

He took a huge paycut to play less minutes and chase a ring. Given that, he may not be playing like David West of old, but he's doing just fine.

David West aint disappointed. He basically can eat on the bench... never warm up... never play... and he can get a ring.

Talk about no competitive spirit. What he did was probably worse than what LeBron ever did.

West is a cog. He's doing his job pretty well.

7/4/2 with less than a turnover 55/40/80 shoot and elite defense in just 17 minutes a game? 112 ORTG, 96 DRTG?

if he was getting starter minutes hes average 14/9/3 with very good defense, still would arguably be a top 10 PF with starter minutes. Hes been fantastic

How can a player on a vet's minimum be a disappointment.

no, his production is fine for his minutes.

:whatever: players make sacrifices, ever heard of a team game? He is an asset to the team, he adds some toughness that is lacking in LMA.

Hes getting paid peanut shells. How is that going to be a disappointment?

I wouldn't say so, he's pretty much insurance for any injuries the Spurs have and we all know that he can still ball if need be

David West has been a disappointment for fantasy basketball owners. Otherwise, he's playing for a title contender as the number one big off the bench. He's carved out a nice role for himself on the team - he brings hunger and physical play, two things the Spurs didn't really have last year.

How can he be a disapointment?

He took one of the biggest paycuts and is playing decent for a bench role player.

Fantasy sports in general has made "stat stans" who don't watch the games look like idiots to their peers since its inception.

Spurs don't mind his role. West chosing not to hose the Knicks for $10 mil is the real disappointment. :oldlol:
