He had 3 monster years. Was in the superstar conversation.

well Carter had some big years as well and was also considered as a star back then.
but high volume scoring should not be equated with success
Right up there with Paul Pierce
Arenas had a GOOD wizards team w Jamison, Butler, Stephenson and could never get past Lebron... Just not a leader/winner

What has he done in this league other than 3-4 game winners and 60 points vs Lakers? :confusedshrug:

Curry reminds me of him a bit. Obviously Arenas was not the shooter Curry is, but he was an elite scorer, clutch as hell, and hit shots from all over the place. Those 40 footers at the buzzer Curry hits with ease, Arenas did the same thing. One of the funnest players to watch ever.

Arenas used to be THAT DUDE. Such a shame that he got hurt. He was a beast before that injury.

I watched a lot of Gilbert and he really wasn't anything more than an excellent scorer. At best he would be like what James Harden is now.....a one-man-army of uber-skilled offense......but not a lot of leadership and team basketball.
The Wizards had him, and prime Caron Butler and Antwan Jamison. Those teams chucked themselves to playoff berths playing basketball that would get them laughed off the court vs. defenses that have adjusted to make use of free(er) zone rules after 2001.
But yeah, he's a mix between Steph Curry (2 years ago) and James Harden.
