View Full Version : Nothing to see here just Golden State getting away with more egregious screens:

I get it, it's fun to give them the upper hand and crown them and Curry as the new best thing since sliced bread in the NBA but can refs at least try to enforce rules against them? Or are they afraid the team wouldn't be as good as they are told to make it to be or what? I swear every GS/Curry highlight of 2016 is also a textbook example of illegal screens it really does make me wonder if there are powers that be that determine who gets to get away with what in the NBA to help or hurt various players/teams in the league.

That was definitely some bullshit (not that I'm complaining), but why only clamp down on moving screens?

Why not travelling?

What would lebron's ppg be if he got called for every travel? 18ppg?

I agree the traveling types of plays are ridiculous too.

Then again, they let so many players travel and carry today it seems like if they let "everyone" get away with it it just is part of the changing dynamic of the game. The screens thing, I don't think everyone is getting away with it seems like it's just Golden State which it then becomes an advantage for them. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I haven't noticed it that much - but I definitely acknowledge I could be turning a blind eye to it (I'm not arguing that it's not happening)

You could definitely be right and I think maybe the NBA just lets the 'team of the year' get away with a lot of bullshit. Remember the '08 Celtics moving screens? It seems like if you're the big dog in the league they'll let you get away with whatever on defense.

HOLY ****. Lebron would be a 20 point 40% shooter if he wasnt allowed to travel like he does.

I only bring this up because every time I see them play or catch a highlight I can't help but notice plays like this:

http://i.imgur.com/wJbqeey.gif

Someone didn't even post that gif as an example of illegal screens, they posted it originally as a highlight of Curry. Once I saw the screens though I couldn't unsee how Curry and his teammates are getting each other free. With lots of screens that are either made on the move or foul the person being screened, or both.

Bogut and Draymond could literally punch someone in the face and it would be a legal screen.

That Heat game was ridiculous Warriors should have a least a couple more L's right now, but more than likely be a second seed going into the play offs against my Spurs. This season has * written all over it.

called this shit after 2 months into the season, people called me salty :oldlol:

and lol at the traveling argument. Traveling doesn't give you 3 feet of guaranteed separation and a guaranteed mismatch. Traveling also doesn't put the opposing team into foul trouble nor does it tire the opposing players as much as illegal screens.

and double lol at the 08 celtics , they were nowhere near what gsw is doing right now. ray allen would've dropped 25 a game with these screens.

Yeah, Heat game was a joke--that was really frustrating to watch. Like I said before, people talking about the need to extend the 3 point line are mad; all that needs to be done is they start calling these types of screens more often, and it will reduce escalating dominance of the 3 point shot.

Chill out, OP. Just because Curry has made lebron a thing of the past there's no need to point out typical moving screens that every team in the league gets away with...and while we're at it, lebron got away the most blatant travels/fouls/hacks of anyone I have ever seen in the NBA.

Illegal screens are more obvious with the warriors because they hit a lot of shots from it. I necessary don't like it, but as long as they get away with it, we're in for a long ride with the GSW dynasty train. Chu-chu boys.

Because this is something every player does. Steph pretty often take 3 steps before shooting after moving of the ball

I dont like the Cavs, I dont like the Warriors. But the Warriors is the only team getting special treatment IMO

Not saying its rigged. Just refs getting carried away

Handball and traveling

I also feel like the player lands with his foot in the restricted area 80% of the times a wing jump in or on an counter (still handball)

You can breakdown ANY game this season and find tons of bad calls/non-calls, more than most seasons. I've been watching the NBA for a long time and it just feels to me like there is a consistent slide in the quality/consistency of the way the game is called by the refs league-wide.
Maybe I'm looking too hard since the Tim Donaghy scandal, but the refs in the NBA need a serious tune-up.

Gotdayum... I was expecting some shit that was close, and then replying "every team gets away with those" but some of these are crazy obvious.

It's almost like having the 94 Cowboys frontline.

The celtics were bad with illegal screens but they KG was the master at making it hard to call. (Kendrick was pretty sloppy with his) They did it more in half court when we really needed to get a 3 for Ray.

The Warriors are dangerous because they do it on the break or secondary break and it happens to fast it would take replay to call some of them.

They aren't dirty..They play like old spurs team with a modern slight cockiness. Kerr learned a lot from Pop.

i feel we'll see them called more often in the playoffs (kind of the opposite of james harden not getting his calls). but if not, congrats to GSW :lol

but if i was a coach of a team that was about to face them in the playoffs, you better believe id make a public statement about those screens before game 1. and yes nba, you can go ahead and fine me. twice, if it makes you happy

This is a league wide problem which Warriors just abuse the most.

Warriors is a team which 'hack' the current lopsided rules.

Every team today makes illegal moving screens CONSTANTLY.

The NBA is a joke, doesn't have rules anymore, all in the name of entertainment.
