View Full Version : Being GOAT is simple, there's only 2 criteria

Ranked 12th
03-22-2016, 01:34 PM
1) Win FMVP with every ring (at least 2) shows alpha dominance

2) Never lose in the 1st round (shows you can at least go far in the playoffs)

Its not that hard.

Whoever best fits the above statement is GOAT

i made a list of rules for ish a few years back.Rule 3 applies here

1.RINGS ONLY COUNT IF YOU WON THE FINALS MVP SIDEKICK RINGS NO LONGER COUNT.
2.IF YOU DONT SCORE FROM CREATING YOUR OWN SHOT THAT COUNTS AS BEING BIRD-FED POINTS WHICH IS NOT RESPECTABLE AND ALSO NO LONGER COUNT.A 5 YEAR OLD CAN SCORE IF YOU FEED HIM WIDE OPEN SHOTS ALL GAME
3.The only way you can be compared to jordan is if you averaged 28/6/6 as a rookie, averaged 41 points in at least one finals, or never lost in the finals. If you can meet any of these 3 requirements then and only then can you be compared to mj.

and lets not forget the unspoken rule 3. win more finals than you lose. that's certainly not a far-fetched request.

So missing the playoffs is better than losing in the first round? What about getting in the playoffs as an 8 seed? Losing to a heavily favored 1 seed is damaging a player's legacy? If a player is on a 10-72 team, no problem, but if a player is on a 41-41 team and loses to a 68-14 team, unacceptable. Is that about right?

What if a player wins a ring at 42 years old and doesn't win FMVP? no longer a GOAT candidate?

Neither is acceptable if he is in his prime. Not if he wants to be called GOAT.

Well 10-72 obviously would be unacceptable but that was an extreme example. However, I don't think there's anything wrong if a great player with a terrible supporting cast loses to a stacked team. Everything requires context. There are no absolutes when ranking players. That was my point.
