Damn, I missed rivalries like this. Two teams that absolutely hated each other going at it in the post-season, when the stakes are at their highest.

.
These teams fought to the death... There was also less 3-point shooting, so defenders didn't have to leave the paint wide open to guard the perimeter like today's game:

Quick players benefit the most from today's open paints because they can beat the help defense to the open paint - the open paint allows today's wings access to the rim whenever they want:

Do you EVER post something with relevance to the thread topic?

That Heat/Knicks rivalry was great. My hatred of the Knicks runs deep, and it all began with those 90's matchups. I miss those kind of rivalries, the kind where there was a genuine dislike between the teams and players. We'll probably never see that again since everyone is buddy-buddy now.

Yeah, you missed a lot of good rivalries the Knicks had with Miami, Indy and Chicago etc...

Just be happy you have your youth and youtube to be able to see stuff like above.

True :oldlol:

The funny thing is, as physically imposing as a lot of pro athletes can be, the majority of them have never been in a fight in their life and have no idea how to fight. David West and Udonis Haslem are 2 guys I wouldn't want to tussle with though.

That was probably the worst basketball ever. That rivalry was horrible for the sport.
