For almost a decade, Anthony was always top 3 scorer in the NBA, after a season ending injury last year, this season he's averaging 21 ppg which is a career low since his rookie season.

In this 13th season, is Anthony past his prime?

Yes. I've heard people call after your prime being the back end of it.

Still can give you 22 8 and 3. Not a scoring machine like before but still a top 15 player easily.

Yes he is past his prime. And he is also a prime candidate to not age gracefully too. He has a nice post up game, and cn shoot from midrange. But he has "fit" issues with his body... so if he wants to prolong his career he needs to stay in shape.

(He imo is a big candidate to just all of a sudden fall off a cliff in terms of production.....)

Hell no. The only reason his numbers are down is because he is FINALLY playing with another elite player ( porzingis).

21 ppg is still damn good....idk why people think anything less than 25 ppg is garbage. I never understood that....its only a handful of players in the nba averaging 20 or more points a game and its like that every season. Melo is still in that boat so No he hasn't passed his prime.

If you are truly looking for a player passed their prime.....please look no further than Dwight howard.

I agree! Melo is on his backend prime status it seems like. He's over his peak, but still in his prime. I just think the nagging injuries are taking a toll on him. He isn't as close to his peak like Bron and CP3 are. The emergence of this epic point guard era AND guys like Davis, Leonard, George, and Boogie pushed Melo out of the top 10 players in the world. But scoring wise, I think he's still one of the top 5 in the world.

Melo is the ONLY PLAYER in the L to lead his team in points, rebounds, and assists. If Melo is leading a team IN ALL THREE, that means the team isn't very good. Melo should NEVER lead a team in dimes. His game isn't cut out for that. So the SURROUNDING pieces that Melo has around needs to catch more heat than Melo's actual game. 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 dimes are impressive numbers for a SF. So Melo is CLEARLY still one of the best in the world.

Well, he's 31. I think he has 3 more quality years.

He's nearly 32 years old, so I'd definitely say his best basketball is behind him. That's not to say he isn't still a good player, but it's fair to say he's past his prime. For most players (especially perimeter players), 30-31 is usually the tail end of their prime.

Tail end of his prime imo. I think he maybe one or two more years. Just based on his skill and size, tho, you would think he should age well if he desires to.

if Melo got in shape he could still be elite. he's a lazy fatass though.

When he left George Karl's side , I felt as if , he no longer was a team guy.

The Knicks theory to selling tickets in the big apple = cheer for a home town boy is all that counts.

* He will be a ringless career guy.
