View Full Version : In Marvel, why do humans love the Avengers and other heroes but hate the X-Men?

In Marvel, many heroes with super powers are beloved by the public, like Thor or Captain America for example.

Fantastic Four are another crew like this. They all have super powers and the public absolutely loves them. They're celebrities in the Marvel world.

Mutants are basically the same as these guys. The only difference is they were born with powers instead of getting them in freak accidents.

In Marvel land, humans are constantly prejudiced against mutants and try to wipe them out, even though the X-men always help humans and save the world just like the Avengers do.

Why do people hate the X-men and want them wiped out, and then turn around and worship dudes like Thor and Captain America and the Fantastic Four?

There are also plenty of bad mutants in X-Men trying to wipe out humans.

X-Men is in a different universe than Avengers, a more interesting universe TBH.

Because X-Men are allegory for pole smokers and muff divers.

Xavier's Academy is the metaphorical school for proud pillow biters and scissor fiends

They're not Disney Marvel projects

It's ****ing weird when Marvel tries to be serious now... It's just like. Get back to the cool witty puns and lame superheros that are generic as hell

Winter Soldier was the best Marvel movie, it was pretty serious from what I remember.

Modern X-Men, maybe. Gay Ice Man and all that bullshit.

Original idea was Xavier = MLK, Magneto= Malcolm X. It was an allegory of the Civil Rights Movement.

Well I'm not really a fan of Avengers, but IMO part of DCs problem is that their heros are dated. Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, etc...shit from the 40s.

Aside from Watchmen anyway...Watchmen GOAT comic

DC is held to a higher standard anyways... Naturally. Especially thanks to Nolan's Batman trilogy. The bar is a lot higher for DC. Marvel can come out with generic ass snoozefests like Ant-Man or Thor. and get pass marks.

I've always liked this comparison to Magneto and Xavier.

Sick artwork, too bad the real dudes couldn't curve bullets like Magneto :banghead:

I wasn't being entirely serious, I just always thought the 'Mutant and Proud' thing was pretty silly

Marvel Universe is about to change. Humans are about to go to "war" with 'Mutants' or 'Inhumans' as they call them in the Marvel Universe.
