Jesus... what the hell has happened, this is the same player that used to bring the ball down to his knees in mid air after he'd already taken off than bring it back up for a reverse dunk with his head near the rim. People used to get in arguments about who was a more incredible athlete him or Westbrook.
He's 27 that's a prime age for athleticism yet he's only dunked once this season, and he had to fully stretch out to do it. I'm pretty sure Kyrie Irving - a player known for great moves yes, but leaping ability no - has dunked more times this season. I had no idea injuries could rob someone of that much athleticism he went from Westbrooks athleticism to Chris Pauls.

yeah it's sad. but the way i was seeing it. this shows that he's getting more comfortable with his body and that he's willing to try out even more athletically demanding moves as he continues to progress from his injuries. if i'm Bulls fan i would see this as a good thing. He may still never be the same but at the same time he's still showing improvement

He's still crazy athletic, outside of dunks he's doing most everything else at an elite level.
I remember he said a while ago he doesn't go for dunks much anymore to preserve his knees/legs. His dunks pre injury looked ridiculously stressful on his lower body, I don't blame him.

It wasnt the injures really, it's that his mental is softer than a wet tissue.

Grant Hill, McDyess and Penny? Rose is definitely on the better side of players who had ACL with Meniscus problems. Rose has lost his lift more than anything. Outside of that he's superior with agility, speed, coordination and strength. He still mostly outplays superstar point guards for the most part. His endurance, quickness and defense suffer the most. He banks his shot now because it was more settling for his double vision he had earlier in the year.

took Derek 2 years to come back from his injury so by this rate he should be dunking in 2018 bare any more injuries.

The title of the thread isn't really that hard to read.

i dont think he cares to dunk anymore knowing it puts alot of stress on his knees. he can still do it but chooses not to. also, im sure hes lost about a good inch and a half on his vertical. He still does ridiculous acrobatic layups, which is really what is wonderful about his game.

Yeah he's pretty much dethroned Kyrie for the most aesthetically pleasing looking layups in the game. But Kyrie has also been compromised by injuries.

actually he dunked in the first game of the season. And of course you knew athleticism could rob a athlete.....we've seen it with grant hill, tmac, penny, etc.
to be honest he still looks good to me....ill always remember that dunk on dragic though.....oh my god....greatest in game dunk EVER......the only thing that could make that dunk better was if dragic was a big man but still......OMG....saw it live and I died for a few seconds......the free throw revived me.

There's been a few times leading up to this where he has looked like he wants to dunk it
I don't care if he doesn't dunk again for the rest of the season though, he's been playing well as of late regardless

When I made that thread here about how guards in Europe are taught that from a young age to preserve their knees, and that it was very strange that no coaches in the US teach it to American players.......
You called me a liar, and said that no such thing as coaches teaching players not to dunk to preserve their knees has ever existed anywhere in world basketball.
Your hypocrite status has been confirmed once again.

Every time this dude goes more than 2 inches off the ground, I grab my knees in anticipation of what is to come and mentally prepare myself to feel bad for the guy as he lands, because I'm so certain he's going to tear it once again.

Yea he looked good on the jump. It's scary to jump like that after you busted your shit. He prolly can't jump like he used to, for sure, but it's not like he can't dunk he's just not doing it. He's prolly afraid of getting laid out.
