I thought this was a parody like an Onion article... this shit legitimately happened and the story kind of pisses me off that law enforcement would even bother to trouble this man and waste their communities time.

Bullet points:
*Guy is driving his daughter to school gets pulled over for busted tail light
*Police find an outstanding warrant for his arrest from a failed-to-return VHS of Freddie Got Fingered movie back in 2002
*The case had JUST been processed - it took 14 years before it even showed up in Police computers
*The video store/company that initially filed this had long since been out of business and no longer even exist
*Despite this the police still put him under arrest and made him show up to the police station and wasted his time ... cause you know, it's "the law"
9 out of 10 times I side with the law. But this is one of those times I think they need to make better judgement calls and stop wasting peoples time over such an overwhelmingly redundant and pointless case. The man talks about how heroin is a huge problem in his area, 6 of his friends have died in recent years from it. Clearly the police could be using that day and that communities tax money for more productive law enforcement.

Guy probably got even a bigger shock when he found out Tom Green personally offered to pay the late fee.

I agree it's trivial but when it comes to legally dismissing it, it's just not the police's jurisdiction to make that call. If the guy has a warrant, they have to bring him in. Yeah it sucks and it's a waste of his time, but that's life sometimes. Besides, if he never returned the video it's pretty much his own fault. Tbh I had no idea that was an arrestable offense. Would have assumed it just got sent to collections like most failures to pay debts. That's pretty crazy quite honestly.
Still tho, you cant have police deciding whose warrant is 'fair' or not. Just gotta live with it.

Who processed that case 14 years later? Someone must have. This pointless case went through at least 2 sets of law-enforcement hands despite clearly being a 14-years-too-late non-issue of no value to the community or any individual at that point. It's not even just the officers it's whoever the powers that be are that didn't throw that case out or delete it from the computer after discovering how old it was.

Clearly this man single handedly ran them out of business. Imagine the money they could have made on that copy of Freddy Got Fingered. They would be living it up right now.

Other than the charge itself, I don't see the big deal here. The cops were just doing their job. They are actually suppose to arrest him but were cool enough to let him come in himself to sort it out.
But his entitled ass has to run to facebook and post a video because this was so horrible! LMAO was a damn baby. I need to know my rights before I walk in there! what does he want them to do? for them to forget about it and then next time his fat ass gets pulled over for a broken tail light, this happens again? not everything has to be a fight.

It is what it is. He had a warrant, so he had to deal with it. It's not like the cops arrested him on the spot. They let him take his daughter to school and turn himself in later. Funny story though.

Funny thing is tho, this is the exact kind of thing where if it had happened to a "Person Of Color," the whole social media world would be like "OMG, this NEVER would have happened to a white person!!!
#Racist!
#Racism!
#Trump'sFault
#GeorgeBush'sFault
#OppressiveWhitePatriarchy

This is a lose lose argument because they way it actually panned out (he's white) means they'll look at the fact that he did not get shot and call it white privilege.
