For a player with sick court vision, his assist numbers are pretty low.

Is that just because scott doesnt let him handle the ball enough or is he just only looking to pass as a last resort?

It's because Byron doesn't let him run an offense. Plus, he gets chided when he attempts crazy passes and they become turn overs. Also, it doesn't help that the Lakers are filled with ball stoppers. Kobe, Clarkson, Young, Williams and to a certain extent Randle are all players that look to dominate the ball and none of them consistently make cuts to make use of Russells passing ability. If an offense was put in place were Russell is in charge of distribution, his assist numbers would increase considerably. In Byron's system he's relegated to a spot up shooter who occasionally drives or posts up.

High IQ who can spot up and create while cutting, PLUS he's shown a decent post-game

If Rubio were on the Lakers I guess we'd be seeing a lot of these threads...

Don't you watch games? It's because his teammates screw up most of his great passes either by bobbling them or missing the easy look.

no pun intended

A Rubio who can shoot and has the length/wingspan to defend? That's not a bad player by any means.
