Both are ahead of Wilt the "Big Dipper"

30.1ppg regular season - 22ppg playoffs - 18ppg Finals

1969- Leaves the game during the 4th quarter of the NBA Finals, Game 7. Couldn't handle the pressure, finds out his replacement is doing better than him, and then begs to be put back in, costing his team an easy championship :oldlol:

There's a 10 minute piece on that moment so that you don't have to revise history anymore.

You also know good and well why Wilt's stats are what they are - he played different roles throughout his career. Dominated, no matter how many shots he took. Awfully impressive to win a Finals MVP as a fourth scoring option, means you must be working that much harder at other facets of the game.

Also instead of deflecting, try sharing thoughts on the actual videos in the OP? Just a thought.

So you admit in a league when these players were considered elite scorers, Wilt was only the 4th best scoring option on his own team?

Your gif is from 1955, over a decade prior to the game I posted - and Cousy was considered an elite passer not an elite scorer.

Comment on the video in the OP? Or is the deflection an admission that you're pissed at the inexcusable quitting in 2010.

Look how unathletic those guys were. Even if it was from 10 years prior, you are telling me that the league's athleticism jumped such a gigantic leap in 10 years from that in 1955 to something compared to the modern game? Very doubtful.

Take the time to think about competitiveness that you see in that video, and compare it to the Celtics vs Cavs.

Give your real thoughts. I mean, it's fun to troll on insidehoops every once in a while but are people on here not basketball fans? Is basketball not a competition? Give your thoughts on how the Lakers lost in those final 30 seconds, vs how the Cavaliers lost in the final minute and 30 seconds. It's just pointless to keep talking to people on here if all they do is troll.

I just don't understand the attitude, other people enjoy seeing clips of Jerry West and Bill Russell. They aren't "D3 college/Senior Citizen" or w/e, that's just silly. I can only imagine you're bored, which is fine, but it's a choice to be engaged destructively rather than constructively when bored. Says a lot about your character.

It's not a "troll" thread against LeBron, it's reality. I watched that entire playoffs, that moment was an atrocious display of sportsmanship. When I watch it in comparison to say, Jerry West in that 1966 NBA Finals it is just night vs day the desire the two had to still win the game. One throws in the towel with a minute and a half, the other nearly ties the game with only 30 seconds. I collect old basketball footage, that's a clip I uploaded relatively recently. I decided to share it here.

Yep, true.

But one tried, with 30 seconds, and almost succeeded.

The other gave up, with 1 minute and 30 seconds and as a result did not even come close.

Can you imagine if LeBron had put forward as much effort as Jerry West in that last minute and 30 seconds? Could have won in dramatic fashion. Or could have at least not been labeled a quitter.

I don't think you know how I post or what I post about. I don't think you even know what a "choke" is.

LeBron gave up in the final minute and a half when down by 9. That shows what kind of player he was at least at that time when the chips are down.

Then you had Jerry West, down by 10 with 30 seconds to go get a quick 4 points, 1 steal, and 1 assist inspiring and helping his team to keep fighting and cut the lead to 2.

How do you explain Wilt leaving the game in the 4th quarter of a Crucial Game 7, and then trying to come back when his replacement was outplaying him?

Was that an atrocious display of sportsmanship or not?

I posted the link, didn't you watch it? 10 minutes. He injured his knee, iced it momentarily, wanted to come back in. Coach refused because the reason the coach refused was that he butted heads with Wilt. Coach ended up losing his job for it.

Had nothing to do with sportsmanship.

Do you think Willis Reed never returning to G5 after injuring his leg is even worse sportsmanship? Because he didn't even return to that game. Nor did he play game 6. Finally game 7 he does make a brief appearance. Luckily his coach didn't deny him otherwise you'd blame him just like Wilt I'm sure. Right?

So, Wilt "left" the at the five+ minute mark, after he had helped engineer a run that knocked 10 points off of a 17 point deficit, and in a little over four minutes?

His "replacement" was outplaying him?

Do some actual RESEARCH before posting.

Chamberlain scored 18 points, on 7-8 shooting, with 27 rebounds in his 43 minutes. The great Mel Counts played 21 minutes, and scored 9 points, on 4-13 shooting, with 7 rebounds.

BTW, why did Wilt only average 12 ppg in that Finals?

You can thank his brilliant coach...Butch, "the Butcher" Van Breda Kolff...who made this classic comment...

https://books.google.com/books?id=9BaqPfGcI84C&pg=PA355&lpg=PA355&dq=butch+van+breda+kolff+had+chamberlain+playing+t he+high+post&source=bl&ots=rQxpX4Ys7l&sig=oosFtJ3aB-NUrdTlS-5xi8-eHyI&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi70fWD0svKAhVDuYMKHSvWDRgQ6AEIQTAJ#v=on epage&q=butch%20van%20breda%20kolff%20had%20chamberlain% 20playing%20the%20high%20post&f=false

"So we were able to throw the ball down low to Wilt and he'd score, but it was an awful offense to watch."

So instead of going down low to the greatest low post scoring machine in NBA history, he had Wilt playing the high post, so that a washed up Elgin Baylor could shoot .385 in the post-season (the worst on the entire team BTW.)

Now you know why VBK quit immediately after that coaching debacle...he knew he was going to get the ax. He basically ended his coaching career with that bone-headed decision to keep Wilt on the bench in a game seven, two point loss.

Oh, and a couple of years later, and with a great coach, Chamberlain led the Lakers to a 69-13 record (which included 33 straight wins), and a dominating world title...culminated by a FMVP.

Dunno what your problem with LeBron is.... nor do I really care.

But LeBron was 25 years old at the time.... who hasn't done stupid shit at 25 years old? You're gonna sit here and tell me you made all the right decisions at 25 years old?

We don't know what happened with LeBron... maybe he quit, maybe it was something else. We'll probably never know. What we do know is that he's ****ing human and no human is perfect.

Was MJ leading his teams to 60+ wins at 25 years old? What was Kobe doing at 25?

Fact is, after LeBron's failures in 2010 and 2011, dude was able to mature up and bring his team a chip through epic performances in the playoffs. And he was able to do it again in a more dominating fashion the year after.

Does that not at least earn your respect? It earned mine....

You will very rarely find me criticizing Lebron. I have him at #9 on my all-time list, and he still probably has 2-3 good years left.

What irritates me are those that rip the players of the 60's and 70's. Looking at the center position today, and the fact that a Kevin Love is one of the best rebounders in the league, and that players like Rubio and Rondo are playing today...well, I'm sorry, but if these guys are among the better players in the current NBA, the greats of the 60's and 70's would be just fine today.

The 2016 NBA championship and finals MVP was GOAT-tier mental toughness.

Proven by facts and by context. First team to come back from a 3-1 deficit in the finals from a sample size of over 30 series. First player to ever lead all major statistical categories in ANY playoff series ever. Again, on the biggest stage with the highest stakes.

There are no more valid criticisms. None.
