What is your mentality as far as next year's team?

Let's say hypothetically they land either an Ingram or Simmons. I'm good with them retooling a roster centered around their younger core and letting them take the helm. I want them to win as much as they possibly can.


If you have a roster of Ingram/Simmons, Russell, Clarkson, Randle then that's your squad there for a moment. You fill in the gaps with good glue veterans or other youth that are useful. You ride with that.


But if they lose their pick? I don't know wtf they do. Because they need a roster that can grow together and stop with this mentality that they're going to swing big and land some free agent. No free agents want to come and play for an unproven roster filled with super young players. This batch of free agents want to win now.



So IMO this pick is important for them to land.

It depends on the lottery and free agency. If the lottery is kind to us with a top 2, I think we aim for 35-40 wins with the help of some quality mid tier free agents. If we strike out in free agency again this year and lose our pick, I'm not sure you can call it a tank. We'd just be horrible.

It appears Larry Sanders has whispers of joining the Lakers next year as well.

Whiteside is going to be a catastrophe after he gets paid. Teams would be wise to avoid him like the plague IMO.

That team would be a step back for Durant from his current team, and less money. He's not gonna go somewhere for less money if he's not even competing for a chip.

You guys have a LONG way to go to championship contention. There is no way the Lakers make the playoffs next year. Even if they get Ben Simmons, teams that young simply do not win. It's gonna be a while before the Lakers are relevant again. I'm just wondering what the fans are hoping to see. More losing and better lotto picks, or over achievement but without actually contending for anything.
