Because he's a snitch. L.A. is finished for the next 20 years. What happened after Kobe allegedly brought up Shaq's infidelity back in 03/04? Lakers traded Shaq and kept Kobe. Why? Shaq'd fallen out of favor with management and Kobe was younger. Long as Russell doesn't become a repeat offender locker room-wise and gets his $%^@ straight he'll be fine.

Honestly, this situation is about two dumbasses making an unnecessary distraction for themselves and their team. Stuff like this happens, and people eventually move on.

What a blazing dumpster fife the Lakers are
Trade Russell for whoever you can get.
What a dumbass brb being a disappointing rookie and not thinking twice about dropping the dime on a teammate and thinking it wouldn't cause an awkward situation in the locker room.

Oh please. This board is filled with drama queens. This situation has been so overly blown out of proportion than need be. At the end of the day the only people that'll bring this up at the same types that bring up Kobe's shit that happened a decade or more ago to be assholes. Everyone else will move on with it especially if the Lakers can retool decently and win games as the seasons go on.

Michael Thompson just said on mike and mike that everything seemed to be fine at practice, that the guys were joking and playing around and they were talking to Russell...He said there was no "isolation" from what he's seen...He said sure guys are probably upset about what he did but they're still interacting with him and talking to him it appears....

The media will take anything and run with it, and so will we....

At least that Dumpster fire was smart enough to draft Okafor. Although they never thought the Flakers would be idiotic enough to not take him at #2. we already have a PF in Randle  :oldlol:

Nick Young ruined that himself. She might've found out one way or another.

Doesn't matter if he leaked it himself or not.
I'm pretty sure there are many thousands of stories of ballers cheating on their lady. The only ones that really count are the taped ones coming from a teammate. Which has probably never happened before. Young's Karma was more than handed to him. But Russ's crush on Iggy isn't cool either. Nobody trust a guy that does over the top sneaky stuff too.

There's no indication he leaked the video in the first place. He said they film each other like this on a regular basis and share it with each other. It was intended for Young. The whole thing was a prank gone wrong and it ended up in the wrong hands.

If the intent was malicious from the beginning, then I could understand the hate, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. Was filming Young like this stupid? Yup. Did he intentionally share the video? No. He had no reason to since he was friends with Young off the court. And how did it end up leaking three months after it was filmed?

It's crazy how ESPN is putting this solely on him when there are other questions that need to be answered first.

yeah i saw some of those posts. i feel it's more of an initial reaction, to show their solidarity, that will blow over as times passes. plenty of worse shit has been done by teammates which immediately gets swept under the rug (tony parker fcking barrys wife. EVERYONE fcking steve nash's wife, etc etc)

as for the NFL beating. i totally believe that. because you know, NFL players like to beat the shit out of anybody. teammates, women, children; its all fair game.

I don't know if this will blow over.

Look...everyone knows a lot of infidelity goes on in pro sports. There's this unspoken rule that people will do anything for *****. So even if some dude ****s his teammate's woman, other dudes are like "that's cold, bro" but all the same...***** is ***** and it kinda gets swept under the rug in that context. I mean, the parties involved don't forget...but everyone else is kinda like "At least it wasn't MY woman" and they move on.

But a snitch? Totally different, imo. Because there's no "*****" motive. Where's the motive to be a snitch? Sure, Russell says it was a joke, but that makes it even WORSE, imo. A joke? You snitched on a dude cuz of a joke? So not only is he a snitch, he's dumb, too. Like little kid dumb.

I dunno. Maybe it blows over, maybe it doesn't. But, even if it does, I think this is gonna pop up over and over again. You're gonna hear a lot of "Don't tell Russell!" or "At least Russell didn't snitch on me!" tongue in cheeks jokes for the rest of his career.

Dude, you never record anything that could cause severe problems for yourself or others. The fact that he kept it under trigger for three months definitely means he was waiting for a right time. There should have been one day in the hundred, where he should have said let me get rid of this. Keeping it is the worse part. Only one thing could have blinded him from seeing the problem... Iggy. He knew it was wrong because he didn't tell teammates about it.

Waiting for the right time? A guy is close friends with someone off the court and the video magically leaks 3 months after it was taken? It makes zero sense. Either someone got ahold of his account or he was stupid enough to make it public without knowing it. I'm willing to assume the former considering they filmed each other like this all the time and the other videos didn't leak. There's more to this story than what we are being told. If anything, ESPN has gone the way of TMZ. They are making some very strong assumptions and passing it off as fact to the masses. It's just shady and clickbait reporting.

Bottomline...Russell is just plain dumb. He might be borderline retarded.

There's no debating that. Recording someone talking about infidelity as a joke? That's about as dumb as can be. You don't even need an elementary school education to know how stupid that is.

Then to KEEP the video for months? That just adds to the dumb factor exponentially. Because even someone dumb enough to make such a recording, should have enough common sense to think "oh shit, I better erase that shit in case it gets out".

But nope. Kept it. For months.

As Lakers' management...do they want to keep someone as dumb as Russell on board? Physical skills and talent matter a lot, but anyone who has played team sports knows that you can't be a complete idiot and excel. ESPECIALLY at the PG spot.

This guy is never going to be a leader and no one is ever going to follow him. If I'm top brass with the Lakers, I'm looking to ship his ass out. Now, of course you don't do it this offseason when his stock is going to be ridiculously low. You give it another season...hope stuff blows over and he has a decent statistical season next year. But, I'm constantly looking for the right time to dump him on some unsuspecting team after that.

A 19 year old doing dumb things? No wai.

And Laker management has been through this before with Kobe. I mean Kobe did say something about Shaq in Colorado that sparked massive outrage with everyone. They know exactly how to handle this.

Compared to that, Russell has done nothing.

Breaking the bro code does.

An assault charge might even get you some rep.

I hate to say it's "bro code" because I know that, as civilized human beings, we should be above that stuff...but it exists. And it ESPECIALLY exists in the locker rooms of athletes.

I played for two different high schools and one college. ALL locker rooms are the same. You don't rat out your teammates. You just don't. Unless it was something really illegal and bad like he murdered someone or he was planning on robbing someone.

But infidelity? My god, you'd be completely shunned. We're already hearing about it. Team won't eat with him. Probably don't even talk to him outside the court.

Locker rooms are VICIOUS environments. The bully mentality is x100 what it is elsewhere. And for a cocky rookie like Russell...who was drafted #2 and hailed as the Lakers' savior?

I wouldn't be surprised if he's broken down and cried many times in the last few days.

I'm not saying it's right...or that he deserves any of this. I'm actually starting to feel sorry for him. But, I'm telling you that this is going to be his reality for a while now and it will probably never completely go away.

no doubt russell shed a bucket load of tears over this. but the lakers current locker room WONT be there next sesaon. Young is as good as gone. theyll probably shop lou this summer. hibbert will go to any suitor that might want him. and the rest of the squad is stop-gap players.

basically youre left with the 4 young guns (nance, randle, clarkson, russell) Those guys will continue to grow together and wont hold this against dangelo for long (if theyre even holding it against him now). maybe theyll screen his phone calls for a while, but by summer, theyll all be back in the gym together trying to better themselves as players and a team.

Isn't Young on contract for next season? What's he getting paid? I think he's almost untradeable. But, I don't follow too closely on the business side of the NBA. Young definitely hates Russell, but no one really gives a shit about Young.

And yes, the other guys being young rooks or second year players...they'll probably feel some sympathy for him. Kobe having gone through his own snitching and being gone next year is actually a godsend for Russell. Imagine someone like Garnett being on the team. He'd probably torture Russell on the daily.

Honestly...Russell is DAMN lucky the Lakers are what they are. If this was a playoff team vying for a championship...holy shit, Russell would be crucified.

As it stands...I think the media will all but forget about it once playoffs start and the Lakers are out of the picture.

He better hope Lakers don't trade him. I seriously doubt they will, but man...if he does get traded......good luck to him wherever he ends up.

He didn't 'rat' out his teammate since he never leaked the video, but ESPN wants you to think he did. Keep believing that. They've accomplished their purpose and got their ratings in the process.

And didn't Shaq eventually forgive Kobe for the Colorado incident? Russell's incident isn't even close to what Kobe told the cops about Shaq. That's a couple magnitudes higher and he recovered from it. The league certainly didn't isolate Kobe (not that he was friends with anyone in the first place). I think Russell will be fine. I suspect Nick Young will forgive him after a few months.

And the Lakers don't care. lol @ the thought of them trading their potential franchise player. They've been through this dumb shit with Kobe before. It will blow over in a few months.

He didn't rat out his teammate.

This video was from months ago. It leaked in some stupid way. Russell obviously had no intention of anyone seeing this video, he even said in his press conference that Nick Young was one of his best frends and mentors on the team, and how sick Russell felt for accidentally ruining his future marriage.

ESPN is trying to spin this like Russell planned the whole thing to end Nick Young's marriage but that's because ESPN is a gawker/TMZ bullshit style organization these days.

Is it dumb that Russell filmed this and kept it on his phone for months? Yes.

Did Russell rat out his teammate and leak this video on purpose? Of course he didn't.

What does Russell stand to gain by doing this? The video makes him look like a Cersei Lannister level queen bitch if he leaked it on purpose.

Use your brain. Stop believing the bullshit ESPN spews.

sorry man...

NBA bro code is a JOKE!!!!

Bunch of millionaires messin around... I can careless for Russell, Young, or that nasty lookin chick IGGY. Either way, who the hell cares about the bro code like everyone is talking about and that no one will play with Russell. People will play with the Lakers regardless if Russell is there or not. There are only 30 teams out there and people needs to be paid so Bro code will go flyin out the window when a brother needs to get paid.

Besides... Does Nick really wants to marry this chick? If he did...then he probably wouldn't be messin behind her back with a better lookin chick. It for the better.... If you are a guy that loves dating chicks and what not and you are in the position to pick up many...why tie yourself down with that trash anyways. Go play ball and F*ck as many women as you can. once you retire...then go find your house wife.

So many posters are soooo emo about his situation. Who cares if they isolate Russell? Its probably better this young cat doesn't listen to these stories anyways and concentrate on BBALL.

LoL... And people Judge Kobe for isolating himself during the early years... You gonna mess around on your lady...you better keep it to yourself.

You guys saying he didn't rat out his teammate...

He took a video of him talking about cheating on his woman. He even sounds like he BAITS Nick...even specifically talking about his age. And then he keeps going with, "You ever get with Amber Rose" or whatever he said.

When I first heard/saw the video I didn't know it was Russell. I actually thought it wasn't...because it sounded so "set up". Whoever was speaking was obviously setting up the person being recorded.

Then it came out it was Russell and I was just...wow.

But don't take my word for it. If he didn't rat out his teammate, why are all these guys coming out talking about how wrong it was that he did what he did. Why is SAS saying no one will ever trust him again. Why is Stephen Jackson saying "Snitches get stitches"?

Seems like you guys saying he didn't snitch are the vast minority. Most people think he snitched. I think he indirectly snitched by taking and keeping that video. Yeah, he didn't go run straight to TMZ with it, but it's not like it was some candid video he took. He was PURPOSELY asking him questions about what he was doing with other woman.

Snitch all the ****ing way.

So you think he took this incriminating video, sat on it for months, and then leaked it towards the end of the season?

Why?

Is he trying to drive Nick Young off the team? Is he trying to get traded from the Lakers?

Does he want all the players in the NBA to think he's a rat bitch?

If Russell leaked this on purpose, why do you think he did it? What are his motivations?

Isolation, powerful motivator. We keep on winning. Want absolutely 0 thug influence on our future picks. We've already seen enough - LA shine is extremely dangerous - specially on young talented kids, millionaires at that. **** Nick Young, and all the thuggies...

Laker hater family takes the L in real retrospect.

Russell def shouldn't of snitched his teammate. However, it's hilarious that people are feeling bad for Nick Young even though he was cheating on his gf . Dude was going to get what he deserved eventually. :lol
People are delusional if they think Nick Young and Iggy aren't both cheating on each other on the regular.

They are both rich celebrities who tour around the country all the time. There is zero way that both remain loyal to each other.

It's likely they both even know that they cheat and don't care as long as they don't rub it in each other's faces.
