View Full Version : Lakers should've drafted Okafor

Team would still be lottery bound this year, but having an offensive force in the middle with Randle and potentially Ben Simmons/Brandon Ingram on the wing, would've been a nice future as opposed to chemistry killing, immature D'Angelo Russell.

Smh :facepalm

Okafor is an empty stats scorer. He is poor at rebounding and defense.

Okafor at least fights for his teammates unlike D'Angelo :lol

basketball 101...never judge a young player on a bad team. Its like judging if a person has HIV or not by how good they look. Stop it

Porzingis actually.

agree with this.

Also is it better to give up the pick in 2016 for the stronger 2017 draft or are lakers fans more interested in the high ceiling/low floors of Simmons/Ingram

hindsight is 20/20. Nobody would have predicted this. You Knicks fans were ready to crucify your GM. LA fans would have reacted the same.

LA fans begged for him, they got what they deserved. We can go down in history with shoulda coulda woulda.

Post game doesn't win you games no more. And besides Okafor isn't good as a defensive anchor.

Nah. Knicks fans are always angry. Laker fans are always overly homers that defend Mitch's decisions.

Mitch has a proven track record and always proves people wrong. His pick was good. D'Angelo will be the 2nd or 3rd best player in this stacked draft when its all said and done.

:facepalm

Why would the Lakers part ways with a promising young prospect who just posted the highest point total of any rookie in 5 seasons (39 points on 8 threes)? Isn't the league tailor-made for this game? It makes zero sense for Mitch to trade away a potential franchise player.

No one cares what he does off the court as long as he doesn't get hurt. At the very least, he's not knocking people out and yelling that he has money. That kind of stuff that could actually get him killed one day.

Don't go the way of TMZ, insidehoops. You are better than that.

Wrong, every real Laker fan I know was screaming Okafor's name on draft night until they picked Russell then everyone was like "What?"

Once again the fandom had to just settle for one of Jim's bonehead moves. Eat shit and call it home made chilli more or less.

This kid is scary because he's not even made a name, much less proven himself, yet he thinks he can get away with shit like this just because he's our future.

Say what you want about the Shaq-Kobe situation , but at least when Kobe snitched it was unintentional under the sweat light of a rape charge, this kid secretly taped one of his Teammates in the sacred Locker room talking about cheating on his girl then purposely leaked it to the media?

That shit is unheard of. I honestly have no idea what they can do with Russell going forward, he just proved to the entire league he's the least trustworthy cat in all Locker rooms across the league which is an instant chemistry killer.

I don't think that is true....how can you possibly believe you can get away with something YOU recorded. I think he thought this was funny and its shows his immaturity but as far as saying he believe he can get away with it just doesn't add up.

Dude is young he has a lot of time to mature......can I see the lakers washing their hands clean with him by draft night? YEP, but that would be a premature move. Kobe had the false rape allegations and everyone started saying kobe was a bad guy and this and this and that....KOBE NEVER HAD HIS NAME COME UP IN THE MEDIA IN A BAD LIGHT SINCE THAT FIASCO.

HE MATURED. He knew cheating on his wife with IMMATURE,ATTENTION SEEKING bitches wasn't a good look. Hopefully Russell leanr from this...doing shit like this only alienates you from your team and in the heat of battle your team wont back you up. This isn't college anymore....im sure this stunt taught him that

I would still take Okafor. Despite his high IQ, feel for the game and shooting form, Russell's lack of athleticism simply limits his ceiling. Sure, he'll have some nights where his shot is on but on a play by play, game by game basis, his lack of athleticism will limit him.

Okafor very well might be another Al Jefferson (no D, rim protection) but in a vacuum, he is still the better player over Russell IMO. Okafor is going to be a 20/10 guy for the next 10 years. He's got way too much touch, post game, light feet and that big butt not to do so.

empty state center is better than a god damn snitch PG.
