5-10 years from now, when people see Kobe was a career 24ppg scorer on 44%, and Career 24ppg Finals scorer on 41%, will people even consider him a Top 10 scorer in NBA History?
IMO, Scorers Kobe has no argument over:
MJ : Career 30ppg on 50%
LeBron: Career 27ppg on 50%
Bird: Career 24ppg on 50%
KD: Career 27ppg on 50%
Kareem: Career 25ppg on 57%
Wilt: Career 30ppg on 55%
Shaq: Career 24ppg on 58%
Elgin Baylor: Career 27ppg on 44%
Adrian Dantley: Career 24ppg on 54%
Oscar Robertson: Career 26ppg on 46%
Imo all 10 of them beat Kobe in production and efficiency when it comes to scoring.
Remember I'm being very generous to Kobe here, I could keep going and include Karl Malone, TMac, Wade, Dr. J, Rick Barry, Dominique Wilkins etc. Which would have made Kobe look very bad, but I'm going to give him a break.
So overall, Kobe has no argument for being a Top 10 scorer in NBA History, which is funny considering Scoring is the only thing he's known for.
This kinda helps explain why many don't believe him to be a Top 10 player in NBA History, when he's not even Top 10 all-time in his greatest attribute.
As time goes on, after he retires, more and more people will see that he was not close to being an elite scorer.
