Zero chance Pat Riley lets Whiteside walk. If he did go to the the Lakers though...he wouldn't be half the defensive player he is playing next to defensive black holes like Russell, Clarkson and Randle...so good luck with that. :oldlol: Hibbert was considered a really good piece defensively before he went to LA too...

3'Angelo-he will redeem himself
Clarkson-best SG in his class
Durant-he wants out of OKC
Randle-beastmode
Whiteside-the missing link
6th man-Ben Simmons-the spark plug

WRONG. He sucked defensively for atleast a year before becoming a Laker. Dumb pickup by Jim Buss.

The Lakers will be the 2015-2016 Sixers next season, maybe worse.

...yeah...he had nothing to do with the Pacers being 7th in defense last year without Paul George (one of the best defensive forwards in the league)...you're right. :facepalm

Sure, Jim Buss-is-in-the- ditch, crappy or new Coach and likely bad for at least a year or two. Pretty attractive.

As much as I hate the Lakers, this is the truth. Hibbert lost his balls in Indiana.

Actually, a good shot-blocking big man is exactly what a team of bad defenders need. If Russell or Clarkson lets their man beat him, Whiteside is there is erase that mistake.

yep. He actually did have little to do with it. I'm guessing you never watched Hibbert play that year.
Hibbert stopped trying after Granger slept with his woman.

Coach Blatt is going to be the coach next year. That and the chance to try to become the next great Lakers bigman is too much for Whiteside to pass up, not to mention the tutelage of Karim Abdul Jabbar, Bill Walton and Shaq that he will receive if he becomes a Laker.

...the problem with this plan is Whiteside while physically dominant...is a pretty low IQ basketball player...he gets lost on the PNR every time even with sound defensive players like Bosh, Deng, and Winslow telling him what to do...how do you think that is going to go with three players that are some of the worst defensive players in the league? Whiteside has to play with other high IQ basketball players to give you those defensive expectations. As I just said...Hibbert was considered a good defensive center before he went to LA...now he's on the worst defensive team in the league. You can't build around Russell, Clarkson and Randle if you want to actually win...they are hopeless defensively.

Durant isn't going to LA unless him and LeBron decide to team up and need a team with cap space and tradeable pieces so they can form a big a 3.

With bad defenders as teammates, Whiteside likely gets even more blocks... but also likely more fouls.. foul triuble could be an issue.

Miami is currently a much better and stable organization. Blatt isn't going there. And he is progressing quite nicely with Miami's coaching staff. Plus we can offer him more money due to early Bird Rights and no State income tax. All LAL has is history. Phil Jackson, Jerry West and Mr. Buss aren't there anymore.

just keep praying that you guys get lucky in the lottery. you're gonna be there for a while

I was lead to believe this to be false. You don't have his bird rights and you don't have the cap space to max him out without dumping or severely cutting Wade's paycheck. Is this information faulty?

Kind of hard to fathom
If Hassan did fall off, he'd still be better than Roy

I'm sure Whiteside is dying to sign with the organization that signed Wayne Ellginton over him, based on a private workout.

They hold his early bird rights. That means they must use cap space to sign him, but can offer him 7.5% raises per season versus the 4.5% any other team can offer.
The Heat will have $40M in cap space. So yeah, it'll require Wade to take a smaller salary and some other roster moves, but it's certainly doable.

Whiteside isn't leaving the Heat. I don't think there's another player in the world he would rather have feeding him than Wade, but if there is one, he plays for the Clippers not the Lakers.

Players aren't interested in playing for the lakers anymore. Russell just compounded that issue. The team and franchise is a wreck. They used to be good. Whiteside has a good thing going with the Heat and I think Riley will pay him. Deng might go instead.

Absolutely. The key will be Wade's cap-friendly deal. His one year max contract this season was essentially the first year of a front loaded 3-4 year deal. It will be a very interesting summer for sure, but Riley has a plan and I think Whiteside is very much a part of that plan.

Many all time greats have said Russell is the greatest passer since Magic Johnson.

He's averaging 4.3 assists and 3.1 turnovers per-36. He's the greatest passer since Magic? He's not even the best passing rookie.

His teammates screw up atleast 5-6 great looks he sets up for them per game.
On any other team he'd average atleast 9 assists this year.

Kobe is a top 20 player ever. Russell wont be anytime soon. L.A is also disjointed. crappy front- office, crappy coach, crappy team. why go there when Hassan can have a max deal and a good thing with the Heat? one of the best organizations currently in the NBA.

No he wouldn't, but I just realized you might have meant that he's the best LAKERS passer since Magic (at least I hope that's what you meant). They haven't had a great PG since so maybe that's true.
I'm not saying he's not talented and promising, but current issue aside, he's not yet established enough where other players are going to be lining up to play with him.

They had that boy Kobe lead then in assist for 5 championships.
Jordan and Kobe are the only two guards that can run the triangle and succeed at it. That's why they are the two goat perimeter players.
