So not only was his era a weak era for basketball greatness...it was apparently a weak era for intelligence.

Robertson just dropped out of my top 20...no way his IQ could withstand the evolution of the game today.

I don't know how much of it is hate and how much of it is simply not understanding the game.

Oscar only has one sidekick ring with Kareem. Dude put up empty stats in a weak era. He shouldn't even be top 15.

Not familiar with that player, but I can understand a player being a better all around player than Curry, yet not be as great as he is this season. For example, Pippen. Curry is the MVP this season, but Lebron is a better all around player. Though Lebron might not be a great example for this point, since he's a top ten talent.

Anyone remotely familiar with Oscar's shtick should know that he has basically been sh!tting on the "current" league from the moment he retired. He didn't have much good to say about MJ during his reign either.

Rofl the salt is real with the Big O.

An aside- maybe these old guys dislike Curry because they feel he doesn't "pay them as much homage" as Kobe and LBJ did in their younger days? It's petty and sound stupid, but you never hear about Curry being a historian of the game the same way people have remarked about others.

I don't agree with a lot of what Oscar has said recently, but in his defense, his "bitterness" has a history to it.

He grew up poor, and endured blatant racism. He was "stuck" with a poorly run Royals team for nearly his entire career, and like West, Baylor, couldn't win a title in the 60's because of the greatest dynasty in NBA history.

And at one time, there were even those that claimed him as the GOAT.

He did finally win a ring as a second banana, but it was interesting the the Bucks went from a game seven in the Finals...and after which he retired...to a 38-44 team the very next season.

As the years have gone by, he has slipped in the eyes of the basketball world. However, even ESPN ranked him at #11, which is probably around the level he should be.

But, just recently some goofball writer proclaimed that Westbrick's last season would have translated to something like a 39-15-12 season in Oscar's era. Yeah right...last year Westbrick shot an eFG% of .460, in a league that shot .496 overall. Meanwhile, Oscar had seasons of .483 in a league that shot .443, and .518 in a league that shot .441.

And the era-bashers always claim that Oscar's stats were "inflated." True, he wouldn't have been grabbing 12-13 rpg in today's NBA, but the facts were...he was scoring 30+ ppg on 22 FGAs per game. If Westbrick can average that 22 FGAs, and in only 34 mpg, in today's NBA, then surely Oscar would have had no problems getting 22 FGAs today, either.

And assists were more difficult to come by in Oscar's era, as well. A player averaging 10 apg in the 60's would easily average that in this era. Furthermore, Oscar was running away with his apg titles, too.

And I find it fascinating that Oscar (and Wilt) get discredited for "pace"...when those two were the ONLY players putting up those unfathomable numbers. Nearly everyone knows that Oscar had a triple-double season, but what many probably don't know...the man averaged a 30-10-10 over the course of his first five seasons...combined!

Again, I am not defending his statements in the last few weeks. But to simply call him a bitter old man needs to be tempered with the fact that he was one of the game's greatest players...who BTW, also paved the way for the players after him to enjoy their lucrative careers.

He deserves respect, whether you agree with him, or not.

Curry's a far better player but there's tons of players who are better all-around players than him. If his wild 3s are not falling, what can he do? He doesn't even pass half as good as Nash. Can't defend.

Did anyone read the article?
Talk about putting words in his mouth...

"[Hield] has confidence in getting his shot away," Robertson said. "I don't think any of these players can guard him. Just like Steph Curry, they can't guard him. They can't guard Buddy, either. Plus he can go inside and he can rebound. It means a lot also other being a shot, he's a great basketball player."
