Gonna be a sad end to a great career.

To be a top 12 player of all time, out of the thousands that have come and gone. Amazing.

It's an amazing accomplishment to be the 12th best player of all time. And while we might all view that in awe, the reality is that Kobe was aiming for the number one spot. So I wonder how he feels about that. That's 11 spots under what he was expecting. But he can also considered that when he entered the league Shaq, Duncan, and Lebron were still not top ten players. So compared to his original goal, he made it to number nine in a 1996 list. The only list he knew at the time.

Also, I think the OP should have used a better quality image.

A song in Kobe's memory.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgYNyWzPsu4

Amon Amarth - One Thousand Arrows

They bring him to the shore
His ship is ready made
He will not see them anymore
Here he cannot stay

The brotherhood is gathered
Their faces hard as stone
They have come to take farewell
In silence they mourn

"Our king has left our ranks
A wise and noble man
We owe him loyalty and thanks
He ruled with a steady hand

He will be missed by all
His heart has now been stilled
Tonight he'll dine in Odin's hall
There he'll drink his fill"

The ship glides gently on the waves
As day turns into night
One thousand burning arrows
Fill the starlit sky

Two ravens on the longship
They spread their pitch-black wings
And lift up to the burning sky

A send-off for a king! Into flames!
The longship burst into flames!
Black smoke is rising high
To the eternal night Into flames!

The whole world burst into flames!
Nothing will be the same
Things will forever change
The flames are raging higher

They gnaw at wood and flesh
Soon the ship will break apart
And sink into the depth
This night we drink in silence

And when the morning breaks
Our king has left this world to walk
Through Valhalla's gate

I remember when he tore his Achilles, I thought it was over and it was shockingly sad to see one of the greatest ever so abruptly leave. Fortunately he came back and gave us a couple more years of Kobe. It was fun while it lasted!

so many sheep in this thread. you were all saying he was top 7-10 up until that lame espn ranking came out. his fans have him top 5-7. objective fans 7-10. retards have him at 12.

I don't see why everyone is saying 12th like its a bad thing. I would probably put him anywhere from 9-10-11 myself, and I'd put him at 10 just because, well,I think he deserves it.

no matter where he ranks playing wise (and that's not taking into account leadership) his impact on the game and the "story" of his career, and the experiences people have had following his career from day one

That's definately in the top 10. Hell, top 5.

Do not give a shit. As far as I'm concerned, Kobe retired after his '13 season.

It's only insecure f*ggot LeBron and Duncan Stans that are making it a point to push this "12" thing. It's just a defense mechanism because Duncan Stans know in 5-10 years no casual fan will remember their boy like Kobe, and LeBron is about to tie Kobe's Finals record, except inverted (2-5)

Basically it's just a pre-emptive meltdown by the Stanleys.

sarcasm in this thread is off the charts :lol

but tbh, he is one of the best ever. there are only a handful of ballers that are better than him among several generations of NBA players. that is an amazing accomplishent.

Legends never die. Kobe will forever be one of the Greats

Pre-emptive meltdown because they know their boy is about to lose another finals soon and will most likely keep racking up Finals losses for years to come.

OUCH. What will his legacy look like then? :confusedshrug:

All they'll have is some insignificant ESPN ranking from 2016 to hold on to.
