the rebuild? :confusedshrug:
If they kept that long term goal plan, it's once they have a player to build around. Which imo at least is what all teams need.
Now that assumes the franchise is looking to optimize winning long term and NOT profits/cash flows short term. They have to date focused on long term goal, and not short term.
They don't have a franchise player and they aren't going to get one the way they are built. So the draft is the key or a massive change. But such a change is unlikely to turn them into a title contender unless they get crazy lucky.

Draft Brandon Ingram. And start to win some games next season. Stop tanking, and sign some notable free agents.

This. They genuinely just suck. They are looking better with Ish but that losing culture is strong.

they have decent pieces to start. they just have to WANT to have a complete roster around them. notice how they dont go after anyone worthwhile in free agency.
if they decide they want to start winning games, they have the pieces and the money to do so. is bryan colangelo the guy to do that? landry fields says yes

They haven't been an above .500 team for an entire season(not counting 11/12) since 04/05. Let that sink in.

For the exact reason that they were mediocre for a very long time post-Iverson. He asked ownership if they wanted a total rebuild and they signed off on it. They got antsy, understandably so, since they are deal guys (PE background) and want their investment's value to continually increase annually, which is tough to do when in Year 3 your record is at an all time low during the rebuild. They want to cash out probably within 18 months and you need wins to do so if you want top dollar.

They need to figure out what to do with Noel, he's their best asset they can flip.
